Light ’em up.

Well….. one thing is for sure.   The Christmas Holiday takes a great deal of preparation for the entertainment segment.  And just like that…. the candles on the dinner table are blown out . …. the roast beast is no more ….the wrapping paper hits the recycle bin… …. and the celebration is over.

But.  I contend that it is all much more than that.  More than candy canes, bows and ribbons, baked hams, and tinsel.

The trueness of the holiday is this.    It is home.  It is our people.  It is our “togetherness”.  The part that we really prepare for is in our hearts.   That takes a lot of time, and work too.  Lifetimes of giving, sharing, honesty, compassion, hope, and loving.   Yet…. long after Santa has flown back to the Northernmost Pole…. and the Elf on the Shelf goes to the Yukon Territory for the summer….  we are all still here together.  Celebrating the blessing of together.  Sharing our lives.

May your candle burn bright now… and always.  May you be a bright light for others… and a place of warmth.  May you all be awesome.  Today and every day.

When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason to give thanks, the fault lies in yourself.  —
Tecumseh
Do not go gentle into that good night but rage, rage against the dying of the light.  —  Dylan Thomas
