A little town.

What a little corner of the earth we are in…. I’ll tell you.

It is called, Hammondsport, NY.  And I must say… it is a GEM of a place.  In fact, Rand McNally recently named it the “Coolest Little Town In America.”  It beat out, none other than our infamous Yellow Springs, Ohio, for this grand distinction.  They have a very beautiful lake. … a quaint downtown…. lots of shops… with many antiques… and a bazillion vineyards and wineries.

But here we are.  In Hammondsport.  Friends of ours are getting married.  So, how in the world did we ever meet friends from Hammondsport?  Well.  We didn’t.  They live in Ohio.  Where we do.  But they wanted to get married after being together for 20 years.  They aren’t allowed to get married in the State of Ohio…. or in most parts of the United States.  So they had to go somewhere which thinks they are worthy of getting married.

They are too of the coolest people you would ever want to meet in all your days.  Humanitarians, Philanthropists, Care-Takers, Planet-Conscious-Minded, Tax-Paying, Law Abiding Citizens.    An Engineer and a Social Worker.  So… it is apropos that they had to travel to the “Coolest Town in America” to hitch the knot.

And thankfully, we came to NY to share in the joy of their union.

So yes.  This little town is great, and we are having a pretty wonderful time.  Our day was packed with exploring.  We investigated unknown Antique and Curio Stores.   We supported the local economy like crazy.  We met Chinese Mudmen.  They are coming home with us.    Of course…. there had to be a fish taco here and there…. with a side of Sad Sour Cream Sheldon.    And tonight we went to a big pre-wedding dinner celebration at the Village Tavern.

I am glad to be here in Hammondsport.  And I am particularly glad to be in …. yet another …. state of discovery.  Literally
