Sometimes, I like the nonsensical in life.
All my life ….. I have been this way.
As little kids, we made “pretend” for a lot of the time during which we played. Some people had imaginary friends… and others played dolls.. giving them little lives and little actions. We would act out scenes, or we became great explorers, superheroes, or homemakers. We would sit for hours and draw, or read, or simply play… and escape to great worlds of the unknown.
Then at some point… the “adults”in our little lives… began to “keenly” make us aware that those behaviors were childish, not real, and a “waste of time.” Period.
And then we became the adults. We no longer believed in the “pretend” and the “make believe” and the “nonsensical.” As children, we would throw our tiny arms in the air, and run around in circles… simply because the notion struck us. As big people… we lost touch with those notions.
To ALL of that.. I say…. Pissshhhhaaawwww. Do not have it.
Believe it or not…. We still try to find little joys in the “make believe.” We still read books, listen to music, and watch TV, movies, and plays, which take us to fictitious worlds.
I propose… that every day… we should do something to keep the magic alive. I don’t think we have to be grown up all the time. That is just some little rule society dropped on us, when we were eleven. Make believe in something today. Have a “pretend” moment. Throw your arms up in the air like you just don’t care.
Put on the old Donna Summer song… which never made a bit of sense… Someone left the cake out in the rain…. and I don’t think that I can take it………. ‘Cause it took so long to bake it….. And I’ll never have that recipe again. Oh, no.
Find the recipe. Have that cake. Twirl around in circle. Believe in the magic. Make Believe.
I have always been delighted at the prospect of a new day, a fresh try, one more start, with perhaps a bit of magic waiting somewhere behind the morning. – J. B. Priestley
