West Wall at the Baptist School

Does the water work?

As you may have guessed by the title, this shot was taken in front of the west wall of the Baptist School on Meeting Street.  I just thought the lines and color of this were interesting.

This is my fourth day into the project.  I watched a video today (for school) about Henri Cartier-Bresson.  He was leafing through some of his photographs, and talking about how they happened.  He’d say, “Oh, this one was an accident.”  Then the next one: “This one was yes, no, yes, no, wait, YES!” talking about snapping the shutter at just the right time.  I love Cartier-Bresson’s work.  Who doesn’t, really?  At the end of the video, Elliott Erwitt came on, and talked a little bit about Bresson, and photography.  About what Cartier-Bresson’s work had meant to him.  Then he said, that photography isn’t so much about “how much” you know.  It is more about being able to see.

This is what I am trying to do with this project.  It is really an exercise for me.  Like push-ups.  I am working on being aware, being in the moment, with the moment.  Looking.  Seeing.
