Today, November 3rd, is Walker Evans Birthday. (1903-1975)
Evans is quite arguably one of the greatest photographers in the history of the United States.
“Photography isn’t a matter of taking pictures,” he often remarked. “It’s a matter of having an eye.”
So tonight, I offer a tribute to ol’ Walker….. Oh to have your eye.
(Camden, Ohio. 2010.)
His obituary appeared in the NY Times, on April 11, 1975…. His Obit (if you are interested).

You have your own amazing “eye”. And don’t you forget it.
Hi Uncle ED! We miss you. Come see me, and my sissy France. Bring your pals, the ones that went for walks with us, and read to me on the lounge chair… yeah, that ONE lady! The other one was a lot like my human Polly. She always had one of those black snappy machines that she held up to her face….. I LOVED it when you were here!
Thanks Ed. I am sure I will never be able to “see” like some of the “greats” in photography, but I guess I do have my own unique “eye”… and that, in itself, is a blessing.
