Petrie Dish….

Deer Mary Tyler Moore...

This morning we sipped our first cup of coffee and looked out into the meadow.  Three deer appeared.  What a beautiful sight.

I can’t help it. I am moved every time I see the grace of nature. The splendor of life.  The full circle.

And…. when I see a deer…. it always reminds me… of all those amazing blessings…
specifically… The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

I am sure everyone makes the automatic connect.
You see a deer… and immediately start to sing.. “Doe a deer, a female deer… ray, a drop of golden sun.” And that prompts you to think of the songs in The Sound of Music. Oh… those singing and dancing Von Trapps.

But then the mind moves right on to Julie Andrews… and her other great movies… like Thoroughly Modern Millie…. and of course… Mary Poppins. (I loved the dancing penguins in that film!)
The next logical sequence of thoughts brings you to her main man and Chimney Sweep, Bert. And that was none other than cutie-pie Dick Van Dyke.

And in the 1960s…. he had The Dick Van Dyke Show… and the main characters were Rob and Laura Petrie. Of course… Laura, his wife… was played by Mary Tyler Moore.

And all of a sudden I am thinking about Lou Grant, Georgette, Sue Ann, the WJM Newsroom… and Chuckles the Clown.  All of the Mary Tyler Moore Show.

Yep.  Deer sure do have that effect on me.
