Why geese listen to iPods while flying….

“George, for crying out loud…. I wish you would stop and ask for directions.

This is getting embarrassing.  I think we’re heading north.  George, are you listening to me????

Georgie-Honey, I really think we should have turned back there at that lake.  Can you hear me George?  George…..????

And as they flew by tonight, I heard the rest of them all squawking and singing….

Where You Lead
I will follow
Anywhere that you tell me to
If you need-(If)you need me to be with you
I will follow
Where you lead

(But clearly, Georgie does not know where the heck he’s going…..)

Pork Fest Parade

Today, I was in a parade.  The Preble County Pork Festival Parade.  But I wasn’t pitching the festival…although it is a great hometown event!

Today, I walked in the parade to show my support for Jane Marshall.  She is running for Preble County Commissioner.  She is the best person for the job, I think.  Honest. Hardworking. Caring. Unselfish. Smart.  The list goes on, really.  But the bottom line is, she will work for the people, every time.

So if you are from Preble County, Ohio, and you happen to be reading this, I hope you will consider voting for Jane Marshall for Commissioner in November.  I know I will.

AND, here is one of my favorite fellow-supporters!  This guy is all over the place!

A bad day.

On September 17, 1862, Union forces hurled back a Confederate invasion of Maryland in the Civil War battle of Antietam. With 23,100 killed, wounded or captured, it remains the bloodiest day in U.S. military history.

There had to be a better way.

The other things.

I get out walking pretty often.  Running or walking.  I used to make fun of people who ran intentionally.  I’d yell after them, “Hey!  Who’s chasing you?”  As it turns out, I do it now.  Yes, it seems I run about aimlessly,  then turn around at some point, and come back.  Like Forrest Gump, but not as far.

I notice a lot when I am out walking and running.  Most of the times I slug along my big Nikon 28 lb. camera and lens.  Sometimes I take photos of the things I notice.  Most times, actually.

Things I noticed tonight:

1. People drive way too fast on little country roads.

2. Cigarette smokers throw their crumpled packs and butts out of their car windows far more often than granola bar eaters.

3. Beer drinkers, same way.  50:1 ratio of beer cans/bottles to…. say…… water bottles.

4. When people don’t want old couches, water heaters, tires, and on, they dump them in the creek along our road.

5. The leaves on the trees are drying up and dying.

6. Squirrels get hit more often than mice.

7. It is getting darker earlier…. SO, just as I was getting totally depressed on my “healthy” walk tonight…. I see the other things.  I noticed there are WAY more other things!

You can call me Al…

That’s the darnedest thing about Alpacas.  No matter how much they might tick you off, all they have to do is flash that silly little grin of theirs at you…. and….

well, you really don’t stand a chance.   Al got me again today.  He absolutely skunked me in Scrabble this afternoon.  Two times!  Then he just smiles that dumb smile….

And then the Trolls.

Finally, just a few more words on Trolls.  They usually don’t live under bridges.  This is a common misconception.  They can be just about anywhere, but you should easily be able to recognize the common areas.  Crevices, cracks, dark and dingy, creepy, craggy, knobby, unpolished, sullied, or possibly even besmirched.

Trolls are also known as goblins, hobgoblins, gnomes, demons, monsters, bugaboos, and sometimes even ogres.  Not the Shrek and Fiona variety.

I went to a Pig Roast tonight.  Great farm in Preble County.  Amazing old barns and out buildings.  A few light posts.  TONS of Trolls.
