The boat trip is coming to a close.\u00a0 This was a sea day.\u00a0 That usually equates to easy-does-it.\u00a0 But there were still a lot of \u201cgoings on\u201d and activity.\u00a0 Tonight, we closed out the trip with an extravaganza of a show\u2026 lots of singing, dancing, magic, and acrobatics.\u00a0 And tonight.. the moon lights the ocean as I look out the balcony.<\/p>\n

So the recap.\u00a0 Each and every city we visited brought great wonder and amazement to my senses.\u00a0 This is a big world in which we live.\u00a0 They don’t call it a planet for nothing.\u00a0 But.\u00a0 At the same time it is very small.<\/p>\n

We are each as different as the day is long.\u00a0 But we share a common thread\u2026. humanity.\u00a0 We are all in this world together.<\/p>\n

So on to the Highlights\u2026 of quirkiness.\u00a0 Amsterdam, the capital and largest city of the Netherlands.\u00a0 A barrage of culture.\u00a0 I was moved by the people of this city.\u00a0 And the four of us were lost\u2026. until we were found.\u00a0 Sometimes you are standing right by your hotel\u2026 and you don\u2019t even know it.<\/p>\n

Berlin, Germany.\u00a0 Great architecture. Old and new. History, history and more history.\u00a0\u00a0 Foghorn Leghorn on the bus.\u00a0 Bill points out the Siemens Headquarters to Foghorn.\u00a0 Foghorn is delighted\u2026. I say, I say, I say.\u00a0 HUGE highlight\u2026.\u00a0 Butter\u00a0 Injected Bread.\u00a0 And for lunch we ate the best little sausages and sauerkraut ever.<\/p>\n

Tallin, Estonia.\u00a0 Old world\u2026. like you would see in a Fairy Tale.\u00a0 But the weather was pretty miserable.\u00a0 Rainy.\u00a0 We found the Russian restaurant under the city.\u00a0 No one else found it but us.\u00a0 Yeah Baby.<\/p>\n

St. Petersburg, Russia.\u00a0 Holy Smackerels.\u00a0 And Holy Herring.\u00a0 The Episode of \u201cThe Stolen Menu\u201d.\u00a0 And of course\u2026 the knock-down-drag-out Tour Guide\u2026 our beloved Helen.\u00a0 Me and the Security Guard.\u00a0 Glorious Cabbage Pie.\u00a0 I want more\u2026. cabbage pie.<\/p>\n

Helsinki, Finland.\u00a0 The Golden Butt Award.\u00a0 The capital\u2026 pop. 579,504\u2026 and dwindling.\u00a0 Great hand towels for Laurie\u2026. and a big stop at the train station.\u00a0\u00a0 Swedish name of the city\u2026.. Helsingfors.\u00a0 Pronounced\u2026. Hell sing fours. Like\u2026. Hell sing for you and me both\u2026 when in Helsinki.\u00a0 All Fours of US!<\/p>\n

Stockholm, Sweden.\u00a0\u00a0 Bathrooms are essential.\u00a0 Never pass up a restroom\u2026. or a toothpick\u2026. which is my new\u00a0 and beautiful philosophy in life.\u00a0 Sigtuna the little town by the lake.\u00a0 Vasa the ship that sank in the lake.\u00a0\u00a0 Old Town.\u00a0\u00a0 We needed more time.<\/p>\n

Copenhagen, Denmark. Sad Foamy Mermaids Story\u2026.\u00a0 Her tongue cut right out by the witch.\u00a0 She walk around on knives.\u00a0 But the Prince lived.\u00a0 I will never look at sea foam the same again.\u00a0 I was depressed the rest of the day.\u00a0 Burger King like none other. Paula Dean on the Canal Boat.<\/p>\n

Finally.\u00a0 When you are at sea\u2026.. the topic of Gilligan\u2019s Island seems to come up\u2026 more often than not.\u00a0 We have a LOT of questions about that three hour tour\u2026.. like what were the Howell\u2019s doing on a squatty boat like the Minnow.\u00a0 And why did so many of them have so much luggage and outfits packed for a three hour tour?\u00a0\u00a0 And of course\u2026 everyone had their favorite character of the very divergent group.<\/p>\n

And aren\u2019t we all\u2026 one very big assorted group of people.\u00a0 But whether on sea or on land\u2026 near or far\u2026 we all see the same sun, the same stars\u2026 a the same moon.<\/p>\n
