I spent my day in Russia.\u00a0 Holy Smokes.\u00a0 The big disappointment was this:\u00a0 I couldn\u2019t see Sarah Palin\u2019s house from Russia.\u00a0 But apparently, she can see Russia from her house.\u00a0 Okay\u2026. we got the bad news out of the way.<\/p>\n

Now for the good.\u00a0 Which was everything.<\/p>\n

Words cannot justly describe this adventure.\u00a0 Photographs certainly don\u2019t do it justice.\u00a0\u00a0 We experienced so very much today.\u00a0 This is something I will never forget.<\/p>\n

It is funny.\u00a0 I say that now.\u00a0\u00a0 BUT.<\/p>\n

We started out at 6 a.m. this morning.\u00a0 I am not sure what time we made it through Immigration.\u00a0 ( You see.\u00a0 The Immigration Officer looks at you\u2026 then at your passport\u2026 looks at you\u2026 then at your passport\u2026 and this goes on and on and on.)<\/p>\n

Anyway\u2026.\u00a0 Wouldn\u2019t you know it?\u00a0\u00a0 It is nearly 10 p.m. and we are just now\u2026.. getting back to our cabin on the boat.<\/p>\n

We started out touring the city of St. Petersburg.\u00a0 We visited an amazing Russian Orthodox Church.\u00a0 St. Nicholas’.\u00a0 They were singing mass… somewhere in the church.\u00a0 Goose-bumpy, I’ll tell you.<\/p>\n

From there\u2026 We went to the Hermitage.\u00a0 Oh my goodness gracious.\u00a0 Incredible.\u00a0 If you spent one minute… with each painting there (more than 3 million) … it would take you nine years to get through the museum.\u00a0 Zhat is vhat Helen zaid.\u00a0 We ate the pies for lunch.\u00a0 Meat pies, cabbage pies, chicken pies, and mushroom pies.<\/p>\n

The Great Palace was next, and the summer gardens, in Peterhoff.\u00a0 We had to wear purple museum booties on our feet.\u00a0 Peter the Great would have wanted it that way.<\/p>\n

And then.\u00a0 Dinner.\u00a0 We can\u2019t tell you where we ate.\u00a0 Highly secretive.\u00a0 But. Yuri was our waiter.\u00a0 We wanted to take Yuri home with us.\u00a0 From Beef Stroganoff to Cabbage Rolls to Potato Pancakes.\u00a0 Dumplings.\u00a0 More. Burp.\u00a0\u00a0 And what dinner would be complete without breaking at least one Russian Law?\u00a0 So\u2026. we managed to slip that one in.<\/p>\n

Tonight a local show.\u00a0 Their were dancers,\u00a0 and\u00a0 a military band, and singers.\u00a0 I couldn\u2019t understand a word they were saying.\u00a0 It was all Russian to me.<\/p>\n

So the truth of it is this.\u00a0 I can\u2019t begin to express the enormity of this day.\u00a0 I am constantly amazed by the life on this planet.\u00a0 Yet.\u00a0 When you have the opportunity to visit a place, and a time.. that you never could have imagined existed …..\u00a0 like this.\u00a0 Well.\u00a0 It knocks your booties right off your museum feet.<\/p>\n

Finally\u2026 the Russian Word for the day IS\u2026\u2026. Buedtzehrohf.\u00a0 Pronounced \u201cBoots Are Off\u201d.\u00a0 It is what you are supposed to say when someone sneezes.\u00a0 Mary thought it might mean \u201cGod Bless You\u201d\u2026. but I think it means\u2026 \u201cHey, you have snot on your face.\u201d<\/p>\n

Enough.\u00a0 As Mary & I began revisiting the day in our conversation\u2026 here back on the boat\u2026. it all started to blur together.\u00a0 Information overload.\u00a0\u00a0 I just never want to forget this.\u00a0 It was a truly magnificent, and magical day.<\/p>\n
