I belong to all sorts of things.\u00a0\u00a0 Domino Tumblers Anonymous.\u00a0 The Benevolent Society of Boat Namers.\u00a0\u00a0 United Jugglers of America.\u00a0 Oh, it goes on and on.<\/p>\n

Most people I know are members of some group or organization.<\/p>\n

Maybe a Rotary Club, or a Book Circle.\u00a0 A cooking class, a university, a football pool at work.<\/p>\n

It could be something like the NRA, the AARP, or the ACLU, or the Red Cross.\u00a0 A neighborhood watch group?\u00a0\u00a0 A church, a bowling team, the NAACP, or the CIA?<\/p>\n

We are all pretty much card-carrying somebodies.\u00a0 Typically, it works like this.\u00a0 You join.\u00a0 You pay annual dues. You volunteer.\u00a0 And\u2026 you receive some sort of member benefits.\u00a0 Like the free tote bag, or a neat-o lapel pin.<\/p>\n

And. If nothing else, we are members of a community.\u00a0 You know it when you pay your local, state, and federal taxes.<\/p>\n

But probably, the one people think of the least, is the biggest one of all.\u00a0 Unless you are a Extraterrestrial Friend of mine\u2026. we all are residents of this planet.<\/p>\n

Citizens of Planet Earth.<\/p>\n

A lot of times, I hear people saying\u2026.. \u2018they don\u2019t care about what is going on in this country or that.\u00a0 It isn\u2019t their problem.\u00a0 Let them fend for themselves.\u00a0 It is none of our business\u2019 \u2026 and such.\u00a0 Maybe on some level, they are right.\u00a0 But maybe not.<\/p>\n

I think what might be happening\u2026 is that a LOT of people are members.\u00a0 But not very many pay their annual dues\u2026.but expect to receive al the member benefits.<\/p>\n

This probably isn\u2019t going to keep working very much longer.\u00a0 \u201cClub Planet\u201d may end up holding it against our kids\u2026 and their kids\u2026 and so on.<\/p>\n

For me\u2026 I think it is important that I should care what is happening in the community in which I live.\u00a0 Because if I don\u2019t\u2026. who will?\u00a0 If no one cares\u2026.<\/p>\n
