I am tired to the core tonight.\u00a0 I suppose\u2026.. Well.\u00a0 This turning 50 thing really knocks the snot out of you.<\/p>\n

Today was anticipated to be….. much like any other day.\u00a0 So, if you are tuned in for a recap, here it is.\u00a0 If you want excitement… you better switch channels… to reruns of Breaking Bad or something.<\/p>\n

My birthday day.\u00a0 By Polly the K.<\/p>\n

The usual breakfast.\u00a0 Two eggs over easy, ham, rice porridge, and english muffin.\u00a0 I really love breakfast time and dip eggs.\u00a0 A dip, for a dip.<\/p>\n

But, the first \u201cdifferent\u201d thing was a gift from my dearest.\u00a0 She gave me a set of luggage.\u00a0 I am not sure what she is trying to tell me with this gift.\u00a0\u00a0 But it is very nice luggage indeed.<\/p>\n

As always, I spent a good part of my day visiting with my Mom.\u00a0 She is in the Nursing Care Facility at Greenbriar.\u00a0 She did not know it was my birthday.\u00a0 But she was happy that I brought her Lay\u2019s Potato Chips and Diet Coke.\u00a0 Again, a day much like any other day.<\/p>\n

\nFrom that point on, it was work around the house, and computer work on work things.\u00a0 Worky.\u00a0 Work. Work.\u00a0 (Sounds like a creature from Star Wars.)<\/p>\n

Some other notable happenings\u2026.I received more flowers today, than any kind of April Showers could ever bring.\u00a0 And tons of great cards.\u00a0 Of course, who could miss the 7,438 Facebook birthday wishes.\u00a0 How do all those people know?\u00a0 It is like they get some reminder at the beginning of the week, with all the upcoming Facebook birthdays or something.\u00a0 Or like FB posts your birthday, right on that social media site.<\/p>\n

\nTonight, I had just planned on a quiet evening at home.\u00a0 But Mary said I was going out to dinner whether I liked it or not.\u00a0 So off we went to our new favorite restaurant, Yum Yum\u2019s Chinese Restaurant, in Oxford, Ohio.\u00a0 It is the most incredibly tasty Chinese food I have ever eaten.\u00a0 They make Pad Thai like it is nobody\u2019s business.\u00a0 We were the only two non-eastern-Asia people in the place.<\/p>\n

\"yumyum\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Finally, I asked the Fortune cookie gods for a good fortune, on this\u2026 my 50th birthday.\u00a0 You see.\u00a0 Here is the long standing joke around here.\u00a0 Whenever we go out for Chinese food\u2026 my fortune cookie is the one that says something totally goofy, absurd, or plain old stupid.\u00a0 Like, beware of the duck in the raincoat.\u00a0 Ahhhhhhh.<\/p>\n

So tonight\u2026 on this landmark birthday, I asked for a good one.
\nAgain, this day was much\u00a0 like any other day.
\n\u201cIf cookie not broken, play lotto.\u201d\u00a0 Well\u2026 we all know you have to break the cookie to get to the fortune.<\/p>\n

So yes, this day turned out to be a glorious day.\u00a0 I felt a lot of love and good wishes from family and friends, both near and afar.\u00a0 There were so many pleasant surprises at every corner.<\/p>\n

And while I thought this would be a day, much like any other day…. well…. IT WAS.\u00a0 And that just reminded me how lucky and blessed I am to have so many good and kind, caring and loving, people…… in my life.<\/p>\n

Thank YOU …. ONE and ALL.<\/p>\n

And as for that fortune cookie.\u00a0 Well it was right too.\u00a0\u00a0 The bottom line is… you can’t read the good fortune until you break the cookie open.\u00a0 And since that cookie is no longer in one piece.. no need to play the lotto.\u00a0 You already won your fortune.<\/p>\n
