Partial.<\/p>\n

You know how I love words.\u00a0 Well.\u00a0 Partial is one of them.<\/p>\n

It can be so completely different, depending on its use.<\/p>\n

Partial.\u00a0 Like\u2026 not all there.\u00a0 Something existing only in part.\u00a0 Incomplete.<\/p>\n

OR.\u00a0 It could be\u2026<\/p>\n

Partial.\u00a0 When we are favoring one thing above the other.\u00a0 Biased.\u00a0 A fondness for someone or something.<\/p>\n

Tonight, I went to see our oldest grandson\u2019s soccer game.\u00a0 He is a junior in high school.<\/p>\n

I got to the game a few minutes late.\u00a0 So\u00a0 technically, I saw a partial amount of the game.\u00a0 Albeit, most of it, but still it was partial.<\/p>\n

But as I watched, I thought\u2026. \u201cLevi is the best player out there.\u00a0 He is such a great ball handler.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 Okay\u2026 so maybe I am partial.\u00a0 In the other way\u2026 partial.\u00a0 I have a soft spot for him.\u00a0 Yep.\u00a0 I am pretty fond of that young man.\u00a0 Old Partial Polly.\u00a0\u00a0 And I still think he was the best player on the team tonight.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s just how we humans are though.\u00a0 We are partial about certain things in our lives, and in particular\u2026. we are partial about the people we love.<\/p>\n

Being partial is a funny thing sometimes.\u00a0 For instance, it is perfectly okay if a parent says their kid is lazy\u2026or messy\u2026\u00a0 (or whatever).\u00a0 But by god, YOU are NOT allowed to say that THEIR child is “this or that.” \u00a0 No way.\u00a0 No how.\u00a0 You see,\u00a0 parents are pretty partial.\u00a0 Grandparents too.<\/p>\n

Not so very long ago\u2026. our dog groomer called our Ollie a \u201clittle stuffed sausage\u201d\u2026.\u00a0\u00a0 Now. I know Ollie was getting a bit on the wide side.\u00a0 But don\u2019t tell ME my dog is fat.\u00a0 Those are dog-fighting words.<\/p>\n

I think it is all fine and good really\u2026 to be partial.\u00a0 It just means we really love someone, and we want to protect them.<\/p>\n

It is nice when someone is partial towards us, too.\u00a0 It is that good feeling… like someone is in your corner.<\/p>\n

And hey, let’s face it.\u00a0 We are all partial to all sorts of things in life.\u00a0 Chicken eggs, the color blue, Indie music, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Apple Watch, Vincent Van Gogh, and Braunschweiger on crackers.<\/p>\n

I am not sure why we like some things more than others, but we sure do.\u00a0 What causes someone to favor a Daisy over a Merigold?\u00a0 What about Spiderman more than The Green Lantern.\u00a0 Or, to like Vampire Weekend over Flatbush Zombies?\u00a0 The Sound of Music more than Mary Poppins?\u00a0\u00a0 Pop-Tarts over Ho-Hos.<\/p>\n

Ah.\u00a0 Just another mystery in this great big Universe of ours.<\/p>\n

But for all the planets spinning through space\u2026 I still contend\u2026.
\nLevi was the best player out there. I’m pretty sure of that.<\/p>\n
