I read an article today, which really affected me.\u00a0 It was concerned with animals\u2019 ability to think. Like humans.\u00a0\u00a0 More succinctly, the article came from a gentleman who had spent the past 15 years studying the wolves of Yellowstone.<\/p>\n

This account centered around a wolf named Twenty-One.<\/p>\n

An incredible story, this was.\u00a0 Twenty-One.\u00a0 His life was amazing. His ability to think, interact, reason, and play.\u00a0 And then.\u00a0 It reminded me about the bigger picture.<\/p>\n

Humans.\u00a0 We are.\u00a0 And we can be full of ego.\u00a0 We have a tendency to feel superior.\u00a0 Certainly most people feel superior to animals, and all that is non-human.\u00a0 Sometimes, we even hold notions of superiority over other humans.<\/p>\n

As a result, I think, we lose sight of peace.<\/p>\n

The truth of it is, we all share this planet beneath our feet, and the the great grand sky above.\u00a0 We are all here together.\u00a0\u00a0 We, as humans, need to start acting like it.\u00a0 Otherwise, our planet will curl up and die\u2026 in the not-so-far-off future.<\/p>\n

We are just tiny specks in this big, big universe.\u00a0 Even on this very planet\u2026. we are pretty small.\u00a0 There are 7 billion people in this world.\u00a0 That is 6,999,999,999 more than 1.<\/p>\n

As if I haven\u2019t sprinkled this thing with enough happiness and cheerful thoughts\u2026. let me give you a little more.\u00a0 I don\u2019t really have any answers to any of this.\u00a0 I wish it didn\u2019t feel so daunting at times.<\/p>\n

But what I do know is this.\u00a0 It is a conundrum.\u00a0 Every person is pretty great, in their own right.\u00a0 Yes. We are simultaneously insignificant, and exceptional.\u00a0 I think the more we focus on our ability to be remarkable, the better off this planet will be.<\/p>\n

And by being remarkable, I suggest we be uncommonly good.\u00a0 We should seek peace, not conflict.<\/p>\n

One notable individual, named St. Francis said this:\u00a0 \u201cFor it is in giving that we receive.\u201d<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0 In giving peace, we will receive it.\u00a0\u00a0 And that might be the most remarkable thing any of us could ever hope to achieve in this life. To be a person of peace.<\/p>\n

Make me an instrument of Your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; it is in dying that we are born again to eternal life.\u00a0 (Prayer of St. Francis)<\/span>
\n<\/em><\/p>\n

Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.<\/strong><\/em>
