You all know what day THIS is.\u00a0 The first day of Autumn.\u00a0 Oh sure, it is a beautiful time of the year.\u00a0\u00a0 The wide array of magnificent colors.\u00a0 Albeit those are the colors of dying things.\u00a0 And of course, there is that unmistakeable crisp feel in the air.\u00a0 A hint of cool and clean leans softly on the edge of the day.\u00a0 Of course, it is the precursor for -25 degrees F., with 2 feet of snow, in just a couple short months.\u00a0 But YES.\u00a0 Today is the First Day of Autumn.<\/p>\n

You see, that also means the Fall Equinox.\u00a0 And the equinoxes, by definition, are the times (twice each year) at which the sun crosses the celestial equator.\u00a0 And this indicates that exact balance\u2026. when day and night are of equal length.\u00a0 Fifty-fifty.\u00a0 Half and Half.<\/p>\n

Ah.\u00a0 The Fall Equinox.<\/p>\n

Equinox by itself isn\u2019t so bad.\u00a0 But when you put \u201cFall\u201d with it\u2026\u2026\u00a0 holy crimeny.<\/p>\n

Now\u2026 FALL by definition\u2026 (and there are A LOT of them)\u2026.<\/p>\n

\u2026. it means\u2026. to move downward, typically rapidly without control OR\u2026.. to lose one’s balance and collapse.\u00a0\u00a0 It could mean\u2026.\u00a0 to decrease in number, amount, intensity, or quality.\u00a0 AND.\u00a0 Most commonly\u2026 an act of falling or collapsing \u2014 a sudden uncontrollable descent.<\/p>\n

Nonetheless.\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t sound good.\u00a0 Jack and Jill fell down the hill.\u00a0 Humpty Dumpty took a great fall.\u00a0 The Fall of the Roman Empire.\u00a0 Yes. Fall.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t get me wrong.\u00a0 I like the Season, while it really IS the Season.\u00a0 But it is the harbinger of disastrous cold.\u00a0 And more.<\/p>\n

Now wouldn\u2019t you know it?\u00a0 I am depressed.\u00a0 And right now\u2026 I am going to go get under some blankets.\u00a0 And fix some hot cocoa.\u00a0 And I don\u2019t even drink cocoa.\u00a0\u00a0 I\u2019ll be back in the Spring when the birds are singing, and the cows are coming home.\u00a0\u00a0 When the next Equinox rolls around.<\/p>\n
