I happened on this photo today.\u00a0 There was no context given.\u00a0 But my guess is, the guy with the pointer, is telling the audience\u2026 ALL about the donut hole.\u00a0 Sure.\u00a0 That\u2019s a given.<\/p>\n

But.\u00a0 I\u2019ll bet you ten dollars to a donut\u2026. he is relating it to how \u201cthings are looking up these days.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 I can hear him now.\u00a0 \u201cRight before the Great Depression, the donut hole was of epic proportions.\u00a0 In fact folks, there was more HOLE than donut.\u00a0 But today, with the close of WWII, and President Truman leading the way, prosperity in this country is around the corner.\u00a0 Yes folks… things are looking up.\u00a0 We now have MUCH more donut…. than hole.\u201d<\/p>\n

I am pretty sure the guy\u2019s name is Sheldon Becker.\u00a0 If it isn\u2019t\u2026 it probably ought to be. Sheldon\u2019s Mamma would be proud, I\u2019m sure.<\/p>\n

Now.\u00a0 Today\u2019s donut.\u00a0 Some of them don\u2019t even HAVE holes.\u00a0 I bought two boxes of donuts last night\u2026. for a house guest this morning.\u00a0 A big bunch of them were without holes.\u00a0 Things must really be looking up with the economy.<\/p>\n

Or.\u00a0 Perhaps.\u00a0\u00a0 I am barking up the wrong tree.\u00a0 Maybe I have Sheldon\u2019s message all wrong.\u00a0 It may have NOTHING to do with economic trends.\u00a0 It could be a lot of things.\u00a0 Our moral constitution perhaps.\u00a0 Or maybe average rainfall.\u00a0 It could be the number of cars produced yearly.\u00a0 Who knows.<\/p>\n

But whatever the equation represents, I bet it examines the following comparison:\u00a0 The smaller the donut hole\u2026 the more gainful the outcome.\u00a0 I mean, just look at Sheldon.\u00a0 He has a smug little smirk on his face as he points to the 3\/8\u201d example from the bakery board.\u00a0 And\u2026 look at him clutching that little donut in his left hand.\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 Sheldon is telling us of the \u201cbrighter days ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n

And who knew the truths of all the ages\u2026 resided in a donut hole.<\/p>\n

Maybe it does.\u00a0 I mean.\u00a0 The Truths of All the Ages HAS to reside somewhere.\u00a0 Written on an ancient cave wall?\u00a0 Found in some book, or obscure scroll of parchment paper?\u00a0 Maybe in the petals of a delicate flower?\u00a0 In the stars?\u00a0 The bark of a tree?<\/p>\n

A donut hole is as good as anything, I supposed.<\/p>\n

BUT.\u00a0 If it IS true.\u00a0 Please, I beg of you\u2026 don\u2019t eat the wisdom of all ages tomorrow morning when you are having breakfast.\u00a0 It could be the glazed, or the cake… or even the chocolate iced with sprinkles.\u00a0 PLEASE….\u00a0 Stick with the Apple Fritters instead.\u00a0 No holes.<\/p>\n
