Giraffes hum to each other.\u00a0 After dark.\u00a0 Biologists\u00a0 have just recently discovered this.<\/p>\n

Seriously.\u00a0 BUT.\u00a0 Why do those giraffes hum?\u00a0 Well\u2026 why does anyone hum?\u00a0 Most of the times it is because we can\u2019t remember the words.\u00a0 I think this is probably the case with giraffes, but the specialists seem to be leaning toward another proposition.<\/p>\n

Scientist had earlier speculated that giraffes are unable to produce any substantial sounds.\u00a0 The reason for this is because it is physically difficult for them to get enough air flow going in their long necks to produce any kind of sound.<\/p>\n

But low and behold.<\/p>\n

After reviewing almost 1000 hours of sound recordings in three European zoos,\u00a0 a scientist with too much time on her hands\u2026. named\u2026.. Angela St\u00f6ger (University of Vienna, Austria), found out otherwise.\u00a0\u00a0 She picked up a weird humming coming from the giraffe enclosures in all three zoos at night.<\/p>\n

Now\u2026 they aren\u2019t really for sure why.\u00a0 They can\u2019t see their activities in the pitch of dark.\u00a0 So they don\u2019t know if they are communicating\u2026 or just doing something like snoring.<\/p>\n

I told you what I think.<\/p>\n

They forget the words.
\nOR\u2026 they are playing on serious game of \u201cName That Tune.\u201d\u00a0 Nonetheless\u2026\u00a0 it remains a mystery.<\/p>\n

There is a lot about this world that remains a mystery.<\/p>\n

There is a new study out. It estimates that Earth has almost 8.8 million species!\u00a0\u00a0 But get this.\u00a0\u00a0 We’ve only discovered about 25% of them.<\/p>\n

There have been SOME recent discoveries\u2026. and they have been small and weird.\u00a0 To name a few\u2026. a psychedelic frogfish, a lizard the size of a dime and even a blind hairy mini-lobster at the bottom of the ocean.<\/p>\n

A professor (Canada’s Dalhousie University)\u2026 named Boris Worm (of ALL things)\u2026.\u00a0 said:\u00a0 \u201dWe are really fairly ignorant of the complexity and colorfulness of this amazing planet.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ya\u2019 THINK Boris?\u00a0 Or shall I call you Dr. Worm?<\/p>\n

No matter.\u00a0 He is right.\u00a0 We don\u2019t know Jack.\u00a0 OR Jack\u2019s Insects.<\/p>\n

AND. We didn\u2019t know that giraffes hum.\u00a0 And a bazillion other things.<\/p>\n

Which brings me to this.\u00a0 If you don\u2019t believe in the magic\u2026 if you don\u2019t believe in miracles\u2026 or angels\u2026. or unseen spirits\u2026 well\u2026\u00a0 you might not know the words to the song either.<\/p>\n

In that case, you might want to spend some time with the giraffes\u2026 and hum along.\u00a0 To see if you can really name that tune.\u00a0 Any tune.
