Have you ever shared a cigarette with someone on a warm summer\u2019s evening?\u00a0 Or rolled down a hill, when the grass was slightly damp from the morning dew, and laughed with every thump of your body against the earth?\u00a0\u00a0 Have you ever watched the sun come up over the horizon, all by your very self?<\/p>\n

I have a pair of gym shoes. They are a mint green color.\u00a0 Every time I wear them, I feel like Marsha Brady.\u00a0 Not because my younger sister Jan, is hopelessly jealous of me.\u00a0 No.\u00a0 It directly results from the episode when Masha was doing some cheer leading.\u00a0 The shoes she wore remind me of these.\u00a0 Her shoes were white, I think\u2026 or maybe dark blue.\u00a0 Nonetheless, they weren\u2019t mint green.<\/p>\n

Here is another thing.\u00a0 When I think of Mint Green, I don\u2019t think of the Mint plant.\u00a0 I don\u2019t even think about the Mint of the U.S. Treasury.\u00a0 I think of Mint-Chocolate-Chip-Ice-Cream-Green.<\/p>\n

Where am I going with all of this?\u00a0\u00a0 Here.\u00a0 Right here.<\/p>\n

Every moment\u2026. every experience\u2026 each and every happening and occurrence in our lives.. has some bearing or influence on this very moment in our lives.\u00a0 It is all connected.\u00a0 One thing hinging on the rest.<\/p>\n

Each banana split we\u2019ve tasted,\u00a0 every roller coaster ride,\u00a0 all the tears and triumphs, every single card game we\u2019ve played\u2026 is influencing this moment right now.\u00a0 And every subsequent moment to come.<\/p>\n

I talk about this like I\u2019ve done experiments to know this is true.\u00a0 I assure you I have not.\u00a0\u00a0 But I also can assure you that others have.\u00a0 Every perception we have is built on past knowledge…. built on outside influence. Sometimes, it seems, we don\u2019t get our memories quite right either.<\/p>\n

When you start delving in to all of this \u2026 the whole lot of it seems complicated.\u00a0 Everything is so very connected and intertwined.\u00a0 At the same time, the world seems like a hugely expansive place.\u00a0 Sometimes, the life force appear incredibly elaborate, intricate, and highly perplexing.<\/p>\n

And then I will open the wrapper of a candy bar, and it will remind me of my 10th birthday.\u00a0 Or I will see a small glass baby food jar, and it will take me down to the tool room which my Dad kept so neatly at our home in Dayton.<\/p>\n

And those are the times when it seems to fit together so very perfectly\u2026. so simply\u2026. \u2026.. and so lovely.<\/p>\n
