Somewhere down in the Black Mountain Hills of Dakota, there lived a young boy named\u2026<\/em>
\nWho are The Beatles?<\/span><\/p>\n

I’ve seen sunny days that I thought would never end.<\/em>
\nWho is James Taylor?<\/span><\/p>\n

Jeopardy.\u00a0 I really like that show.\u00a0 Alex Trebek and all.<\/p>\n

But it is the act of shouting out of the answers in the form of a question\u2026 right at the TV\u2026 while I\u2019m eating dinner, or doing dishes\u2026 or working on a connect-the-dot puzzle.\u00a0 It makes no difference.<\/p>\n

Who is Diane Ross and The Supremes?<\/span>
\nWho is Perry Como?<\/span><\/p>\n

HA!\u00a0 All five.\u00a0 I killed the category!<\/p>\n

Oh, the thrill of it all.<\/p>\n

Okay, let\u2019s face it. I\u2019m pathetic. But that is beside the point.\u00a0 I like the show, I just can\u2019t understand why they named it Jeopardy.<\/p>\n

Jeopardy is pretty much defined as a danger of loss, or being in harm\u2019s way, or\u2026\u00a0 in risk of failure.\u00a0 I guess maybe if you get the answer wrong\u2026 in the form of a question, of course \u2026.\u00a0 you are in jeopardy of losing money?<\/p>\n

But you start out with zero dollars.\u00a0 And they don\u2019t make you pay any money back if you get a negative score\u2026. so what\u2019s the jeopardy?<\/p>\n

Nope.\u00a0 I would have named it \u201cBass-ackwards\u201d\u2026.\u00a0 or \u201cRewsna\u201d\u00a0 or something like that.\u00a0 Maybe \u201cYour Intellectual Snobbery is showing right through your shirt.\u201d\u00a0 But not \u201cJeopardy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now I\u2019ve been in Jeopardy quite a few times in my life.\u00a0 Year\u2019s ago\u2026. I didn\u2019t give it much thought at all.\u00a0 I would simply forge ahead.\u00a0 Leap first.\u00a0 Look later.\u00a0 Most of the time, this turned out to be completely ineffective.<\/p>\n

I think the older we get\u2026 the more experience we have gained.\u00a0 And as a result\u2026 we are a bit wiser than we were in our invincible youth.\u00a0 At least\u2026\u00a0 I hope so.<\/p>\n

These days, if I find myself in jeopardy, I find it best to slow myself down.\u00a0 Perhaps, I consult a loved one for advice. Or meditate \/ pray.\u00a0 Or even\u2026 on occasion\u2026 I have a dream with some obscure reference\u2026 and my big brother has to point it out to me.\u00a0 Nonetheless\u2026. the results are much better as a whole.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, if I find myself in Jeopardy\u2026 I shout out\u2026 at the top of my lungs\u2026 \u201cWM for $200 Alex.\u201d<\/p>\n

What is Wigwam?
\nWhat is Warm?
\nWhat is Webcam?
\nWhat is Worm?
\nWhat is Wisdom?<\/p>\n

And there, my friends…. you have it.<\/p>\n
