Religion and Politics.\u00a0 They are everywhere.<\/p>\n

Why, just today\u2026 I worked at the Eatonic Music Festival.\u00a0 I was volunteering for the Rotary Club, albeit I am not a member of Rotary.\u00a0 Anyway\u2026 some really great bands played throughout the day.\u00a0 At one point, one of the band\u2019s songs instructed me to Pray for the Fish.\u00a0 Over and over again, it told me to pray for the fish.<\/p>\n

Who am I to argue such an appeal as that?\u00a0 As such\u2026.\u00a0 It has seemed like the thing to do. And, I\u2019ve been praying for the fish all day.\u00a0 I\u2019ll let you know if I hear anything\u2026 although I am not sure exactly which fish I am praying for.<\/p>\n

But back to it.\u00a0 Seems like everybody these days is talking religion or politics.\u00a0 Just turn on the TV for 5 minutes.\u00a0 (And I do.)<\/p>\n

Yes, every news cast, talk show, and entertainment program, has something to say about those two topics.\u00a0 I alway try to make a point NOT to discuss such things here.\u00a0 It happens now and again.\u00a0 I know.<\/p>\n

Heck, even my story about keeping the ants out of my garden was construed by some has having political undertones.\u00a0 Apparently, someone else is planning on building a wall somewhere.\u00a0 This must have been the cause for confusion on the part of some of my readers.<\/p>\n

But I try very hard not to talk religion or politics.\u00a0 Period.<\/p>\n

So.\u00a0 When I mention Pope Francis in my next sentence, I can assure you it has nothing to do with religion.<\/p>\n

As most of you know, Europe is now experiencing some difficulties with an insurgence of migrants from non-EU countries.\u00a0\u00a0 The conflicts raging in Syria and Afghanistan, and the influence of ISIS in Iraq, appear to be the major drivers of the migration.<\/p>\n

Do you know what Pope Frank suggested today?\u00a0 He thought it would be a good idea for every Catholic Parish in Europe to take in one migrant family.\u00a0 That is a big bunch of people.<\/p>\n

Some people would look at that, and say\u2026 \u201cNow THAT is the Christian thing to do.\u201d\u00a0 And you could say any number of things about this Papal Suggestion\u2026 It is an act of\u2026. Kindness. Compassion. Acceptance. And Sheer Brilliance.\u00a0 Either way, it just seems like a good and loving thing to do. He asked people to help them, to welcome them\u2026..\u00a0 Not to keep those suffering people from finding refuge, food, protection, shelter.\u00a0 Not building a wall to keep them out.<\/p>\n

So no.\u00a0 I won\u2019t talk religion of politics tonight. I shall simply relay my observations of the world happenings\u2026 which in this case\u2026 make me believe in the goodness of humankind.<\/p>\n

And of course, I will continue praying for the fish.\u00a0 Just for the halibut, I guess.<\/p>\n
