Today…. I took a walk outside on Planet Earth.\u00a0 It was beautiful.\u00a0 Warm.\u00a0 It felt like happiness, and soundness.\u00a0 It felt spiritual.<\/p>\n

Here is the thing though. I don’t practice any ONE singular religion.\u00a0 I don’t have it in me really.\u00a0\u00a0 ONLY because… I think\u00a0 there are SO many religions\u00a0 which offer up some incredibly beautiful and loving practices about living life.<\/p>\n

This is what else I think…..\u00a0 The spiritual life isn’t found up in the sky somewhere…. or in a book as a set of rules… or in any one singular place.\u00a0\u00a0 It is right here with us.\u00a0 Before us.\u00a0 It is all around us right here on earth.\u00a0 It is inside of us.<\/p>\n

Being a spiritual person…. and a good person….\u00a0 means becoming a real human being.<\/p>\n

There is a Buddhist guy named Thich Nhat Hanh.\u00a0 He is actually a pretty well-known Vietnamese monk.\u00a0 He has said some pretty profound things.\u00a0 This being one of them:\u00a0 “It is not so important whether you walk on water or walk in space. The true miracle is to walk on earth.”<\/p>\n

Now how true is THAT?\u00a0 Think about it.\u00a0 Becoming a KIND human being… a GOOD person….. is probably the greatest miracle we can perform.\u00a0 If we can do it.<\/p>\n

So do we take good care of our hearts?\u00a0 How can I make my heart kind and loving?<\/p>\n

Maybe it is like Carol King said…\u00a0 “You got to get up every morning, with a smile on your face, and show the world, all the love in your heart.”<\/p>\n

So\u00a0 maybe.\u00a0 When we get out of bed in the morning… it might benefit\u00a0 our kind hearts to say….”Today as much as possible, I won’t harm anybody. Today as much as possible I am going to try be of service and benefit to others. Today I want to do all actions so that all living beings can attain the long-term happiness of enlightenment.” (Thubten Chodron)<\/p>\n

Maybe.\u00a0 The old Golden Rule tells us that people should treat others in the same way that they themselves would like to be treated.
\nWalking… on the earth….\u00a0 and being kind…. is definitely a good thing.\u00a0 I think.<\/p>\n
