We have chipmunks.\u00a0 Fat chipmunks.\u00a0\u00a0 And a lot of them.<\/p>\n

Some see this as a problem.\u00a0 But not me.\u00a0 I like them a lot.\u00a0 I think they are as cute as can be.\u00a0 I don\u2019t care that they are tunneling everywhere around our Koi Pond and landscaping, and making big mounds of dirt.\u00a0 No.\u00a0 I do not see them as a problem, at all.\u00a0 I see possibilities, and potential.<\/p>\n

With the notion that these little fella\u2019s are a problem.. SOMEONE has decided to \u201cLive Trap\u201d them.\u00a0 Then, they are driven far, far, away from our home\u2026 deep into the woods, and released back into nature.<\/p>\n

Some view this as a humane way of getting rid of our immediate chipmunk \u201cproblem.\u201d\u00a0 I think of it\u2026. as a disrupted displacement of little chipmunk families.<\/p>\n

I think it would be much better if I kept them, domesticated them, and began our training.<\/p>\n

Yes.\u00a0 You read it right. Training.<\/p>\n

You see, I think they have much potential.\u00a0 They are fast, and nimble, and very good at acrobatics.\u00a0 So I want to start a little Chipmunk Circus.\u00a0 A little traveling squad of \u201cThe Charming Chipmunk Champions.\u201d<\/p>\n

They will perform daring feats of acrobatic maneuvers.\u00a0 Skillful jumps.\u00a0 Fearless tumbles and rolls.\u00a0 They will have teeny weeny trapezes and tightropes, and trampolines.<\/p>\n

We will travel from city to city, with our little circus tents, and itsy-bitsy bleachers, and tiny ticket stands.\u00a0 We will have little concession stands with small boxes of popcorn, and mini-hotdogs, and such.<\/p>\n

Oh. It will be BIG.\u00a0 Grand.\u00a0 People will come from miles around to watch little chipmunks watching the little chipmunk circus.<\/p>\n

I know.\u00a0 It sounds like a great adventure.\u00a0 Like a ton of fun.\u00a0 BUT\u2026..then\u2026\u2026\u00a0 It sounds too good to be true.\u00a0 And then the reality sets in.\u00a0 And the lights dim, and the tent collapses\u2026 and there really is no circus.<\/p>\n

You see.\u00a0 Sometimes, that is how life feels to me.\u00a0 I want to believe in the magic.\u00a0 The possibilities.\u00a0\u00a0 The great unknowns.\u00a0\u00a0 I do.\u00a0 But the intellectual muscle starts to flex.\u00a0 And the dream of it all\u2026 begins to fade away.<\/p>\n

People believe in all sorts of different things.\u00a0 From God, to Yahweh, to Allah.\u00a0\u00a0 From the Bible, to the Torah, to the Quran. Some believe in ghosts, spirits, and spirit guides.\u00a0 Others believe in Angels, and miracle beings.\u00a0 Still others believe in faeries, witches, and goblins.\u00a0 Psychics and Spiritualists.<\/p>\n

I can\u2019t say for sure who is right.\u00a0 Maybe all of them\u2026 maybe none.<\/p>\n

And there…. is my daily beast.<\/p>\n

I want to believe in the impossible.\u00a0 But then\u2026 I think it is impossible.<\/p>\n

Dang it.<\/p>\n

I was almost done sewing the little chipmunk leotards.\u00a0 And THAT\u2026 my friends\u2026. might have been The Greatest Show on Earth.<\/p>\n
