I have never twerked.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t plan on it either.\u00a0 Ever.<\/p>\n

In fact, I am pretty sure my knees hurt too much, most of the time, to do any such thing.<\/p>\n

These might be signs I am getting older.<\/p>\n

When it comes down to it, I don\u2019t know most of the celebrities on TV any more.\u00a0 We will be watching an interview of some young, beautiful person.\u00a0 I will ask Mary, \u201cWho is that?\u201d\u00a0 She normally responds, \u201cI have no idea.\u201d\u00a0 To which I say\u2026\u201dWhat show are they on?\u201d\u00a0 And she\u2026\u201dI have no idea.\u201d\u00a0 There was a time when I knew who all of them were.<\/p>\n

If it isn\u2019t Scott Pelley on the evening news, or Alex Trebek on Jeopardy, we are pretty much clueless.<\/p>\n

I say things now, like\u2026 \u201cWhen I was growing up\u2026.\u201d\u00a0 or \u201cWhen we were kids\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Oh.\u00a0 Back in the day.\u00a0 Those good old days.\u00a0 That\u2019s my grandpa used to say.\u00a0 And now, will you have a look at me?\u00a0 Holy Crap.<\/p>\n

Most of my friends are older than I am.\u00a0 The other day, one of them told me they recently \u201cGot Lucky\u201d\u2026. and as it turns out\u2026 they had just been able to find their car in a parking lot.<\/p>\n

One good thing about having older friends\u2026 is telling them secrets. Most of them can\u2019t remember what you\u2019ve said anyway.<\/p>\n

The wild and crazy days are over, I\u2019m afraid.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sad about it.\u00a0 On the contrary, I\u2019m slightly relieved.<\/p>\n

You see, I used to be a party animal.\u00a0 But these days\u2026 I consider pulling an \u201cAll-Nighter\u201d to be\u2026. not getting up…. even once…. during the night to go pee.\u00a0 I haven\u2019t had an all-nighter in a long dang time.<\/p>\n

Yet… There are some uptakes about getting old.\u00a0 Like.\u00a0 In a hostage situation, I\u2019ll be one of the first ones released.<\/p>\n

I like getting older, truth be told.\u00a0 It beats the alternative.\u00a0 But besides that, it seems like I have learned more in the past 10 years, than I\u2019ve learned in all the years before that.\u00a0 Maybe I am paying more attention.<\/p>\n

One thing for certain about me know, in my current age\u2026 I slow down.\u00a0 Sometimes, I\u00a0 even stay very, very, still.\u00a0 And I listen.\u00a0\u00a0 And look.\u00a0 Sometimes, I hear, and see, and I am astounded by the clarity which life has afforded me at that moment.\u00a0 I feel like a worthy part of the Universe.<\/p>\n

Other times, it all seems muddled.\u00a0 And I can\u2019t see the forest for the trees.\u00a0 Or the plain nose on my face.\u00a0 In these cases\u2026 I am pretty sure I\u2019ve just misplaced my glasses, only to find them 15 minutes later\u2026 on the top of my head.<\/p>\n
