Fear.<\/p>\n

I wish I had less of it.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Way less.\u00a0\u00a0 But alas, I have it.\u00a0 In bucket loads, sometimes.<\/p>\n

That whole campaign on \u201cNo Fear\u201d sort of cracks me up.<\/p>\n

You see.\u00a0 We are humans.\u00a0 Like it or not, fear is a part of being human.\u00a0 It is a vital response\u00a0 we have\u2026. to physical and \/ or emotional danger.\u00a0 If we didn’t feel fear at all, we would not be able to protect ourselves from valid dangers and threats.\u00a0\u00a0 So the whole \u201cNo Fear\u201d thing is a bit absurd, really.\u00a0 But people feel a whole level of cool when they have the stickers on their cars and such.\u00a0 And it is okay to feel cool.<\/p>\n

But let\u2019s go back.\u00a0 When I was a kid, I feared things like Vincent Price movies and roller coasters.\u00a0 Heights.\u00a0 The Wicked Witch of the West.\u00a0 Pitch Black.\u00a0 Spiders and snakes.\u00a0 And. Certain people I knew.<\/p>\n

Today\u2026 none of those things scare me at all\u2026. \u2026.\u00a0 except the latter.\u00a0 In fact, I seem to be slightly more daring than I ever have before.\u00a0 There was a time when I wouldn\u2019t have zip-lined, or taken a helicopter tour of volcanoes, or even swam into waters to see any kind of shark.\u00a0 But I\u2019ve done all of those things recently.<\/p>\n

Yet. A whole bunch of other things put fear in me these days.<\/p>\n

Mostly, the \u201cNot Knowing.\u201d\u00a0 Although, that\u2019s part of being human too.\u00a0 We don\u2019t know.\u00a0 We can\u2019t know.\u00a0\u00a0 The very next minute might bring anything.\u00a0 Anything at all.<\/p>\n

The top ten fears in the United States\u2026. according to a recent gallop poll\u2026. (in order):\u00a0 terrorist attacks, spiders, death, being a failure, war, criminal or gang violence, being alone, the future unknown, and nuclear war.\u00a0 Some more top \u201cfear of\u201d things, are\u2026.. flying, heights, surgery, clowns, intimacy, death, rejection, people, snakes, failure, and driving.<\/p>\n

I would lump most of those above fears into one category.\u00a0 The future unknown.<\/p>\n

At any rate, I know we can\u2019t know, but I wish I could know.\u00a0 Or maybe I don\u2019t want to know.\u00a0 Who knows.<\/p>\n

Say that three times fast.<\/p>\n

Of course\u2026 there are the little things which sort of scare me.
\n\u2022 Donald Trump and his hair.
\n\u2022 If marijuana becomes legal\u2026 what will happen to all the dogs trained to sniff it out at airports, and schools and such?\u00a0 I hope they will be able to find jobs elsewhere.
\n\u2022 I have never met anyone who has slipped on a banana peel.\u00a0 I just know it is simply a matter of time until it happens to some clown out there.
\n\u2022 I might be an evil twin, and I just don\u2019t know it.\u00a0 We could have been separated at birth, and my good twin is out there somewhere.
\n\u2022 What happened to all the Cabbage-Patch-Parents?\u00a0 It must have been bad.
\n\u2022 When cows get really old, do they automatically give spoiled milk?<\/p>\n

Enough about my worries.
\nI\u2019m actually happy a good deal of the time.\u00a0 There is a lot to be happy about in this life of ours.\u00a0 We have what we have right now, and that is enough.\u00a0 I\u2019m grateful and glad for that.\u00a0 And.\u00a0 I am especially happy that I\u2019ve never slipped on a banana peel.\u00a0 Even if I am an Evil Twin.<\/p>\n
