Some days can be tricky.\u00a0 Other days\u2026 not so tricky.\u00a0 It seems to be arbitrary.\u00a0 But is it?<\/p>\n

Here is the thing. We had dinner this evening with some old friends. Good old friends.\u00a0 Not only are they wonderful, kind people\u2026. yes\u2026 they really are old. (Joking.)<\/p>\n

We had a great night, and as always\u2026 truly nice to spend time with the ones you love in life.<\/p>\n

At any rate, one subject which came up tonight was \u201ca rogue squirrel on the bird feeder\u201d at their home in Cincy.\u00a0 The topic spun a hundred different ways\u2026 but I suggested \u201cembracing the squirrel.\u201d\u00a0 That got a good laugh.<\/p>\n

But.<\/p>\n

I was being serious.\u00a0 You see, I continue to get the message of \u201cacceptance\u201d in my life.\u00a0 Not fighting the river, but letting the water flow just as it does.\u00a0 Acceptance is very key, I think, to our well being.<\/p>\n

Accepting change.\u00a0 Accepting diversity.\u00a0 Accepting differences.\u00a0 Accepting a lot of things.<\/p>\n

One of my favorite prayers is the Serenity Prayer.<\/p>\n

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
\nThe courage to change the things I can,
\nAnd the wisdom to know the difference.<\/p>\n

Ahhhhhh\u2026.. the wisdom know the difference.<\/p>\n

But.\u00a0 The truth of the matter is\u2026. life is unpredictable.\u00a0 It changes all the time.\u00a0 We don\u2019t control the universe\u2026 in fact\u2026 we can\u2019t even control everything within our own circle of life.\u00a0 We can influence, or try to influence things all we want.\u00a0 But there are things which are completely out of our control.<\/p>\n

We can\u2019t control others.\u00a0 People may not \u201cbe\u201d the way we want them to be.\u00a0 Sometimes, we simply have to accept this.\u00a0 Or let go.<\/p>\n

Life is imperfect.\u00a0 We are imperfect.
\nThere will be things we don\u2019t know how to handle, or don\u2019t want to.\u00a0 But in the moment, if we can accept where we are, and know this is where we are supposed to be by the way of the Universal Clockworks\u2026.<\/p>\n

Acceptance does not mean that we completely agree with what is happening.\u00a0 Some situations need to be changed.\u00a0 But.\u2026 Acceptance means that we are able to look right at the present\u2026. and say in that single moment that\u2026. this moment is right now in front of me.. and I acknowledge\u2026 it is here\u2026 neither good nor bad.<\/p>\n

This is where the ultimate understanding is.
\nAt least, in this moment, that seems to be what I think about this life.\u00a0 It is best for us to try to accept our moments.\u00a0 And live.
\nAnd for crying out loud\u2026 let the little squirrel live.<\/p>\n

\u201cLife is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don\u2019t resist them \u2013 that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.\u201d \u2013 Lao-Tzu<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
