Sometimes, life gives us incredibly talented people.\u00a0 Sometimes, amazingly funny people.\u00a0 One of the people who I admire most (without even knowing a\u00a0 THING about the guy)\u2026. is Gary Larson.<\/p>\n

Today is his birthday.\u00a0 He was born on August 14th, 1950 in Tacoma, Washington.\u00a0 If you aren\u2019t familiar with him, he is the genius who created The Far Side.<\/p>\n

Day after day, I would look forward to opening up the newspaper and reading The Far Side.\u00a0 A one square cartoon, most of the time, with one caption\u2026 or none at all.\u00a0 And oh, each day… I truly would laugh out loud.<\/p>\n

He was so incredibly good at finding the funny in the possibilities of life.<\/p>\n

My all time favorite, is the one with the two circus bears riding a motorcycle in the circus ring\u2026 both of them muzzled and wearing funny hats.\u00a0 And the Male Bear says to the Female Bear\u2026\u2019Looks like a trap,\u2019 I said.\u00a0 \u2018Nonsense,\u2019 you said.\u00a0 \u2018Who would set a trap way out here in the woods?\u2019 you said.<\/p>\n

Oh my gosh.\u00a0 Now\u2026. let\u2019s all LOL.<\/p>\n

Day after day, he would come up with the hilarious.\u00a0 About anything and everything.<\/p>\n

Then, on a very sad day in\u00a0 October of 1994, he announced he was retiring from writing the \u201cFar Side\u201d\u2026 and I cried.\u00a0 Almost as hard as I cried the day Gilda Radner died.<\/p>\n

So on January 1, 1995, the last Far Side appeared.\u00a0 And then it disappeared.<\/p>\n

I can only say thanks to the Universe for giving us people like that.\u00a0 Those that bring joy to our lives, time and again.\u00a0 Sometimes it is someone we don\u2019t even know.\u00a0 But the world knows them.<\/p>\n

Today is also my Aunt Janet\u2019s birthday.\u00a0 My Dad\u2019s youngest sister.\u00a0 She\u00a0 is another one I could go on and on about\u2026 a great gift in this life.\u00a0 I thought the world of my Dad.\u00a0 I think the world of my Aunt J.\u00a0 You can tell they were cut from the same cloth.\u00a0 I am thankful for her too.<\/p>\n

So Happy Birthday Aunt J. and Gary Larson.\u00a0 Once again, lucky me.<\/p>\n
