Do you know that story about the Lion and the Mouse?\u00a0\u00a0 It may be one of Aesop\u2019s Fables\u2026 or a Golden Book\u2026 or an African Folk Lore Tale.\u00a0 Not sure.\u00a0 But.\u00a0 As I remember, the Lion has a thorn in its paw, and the only one in the jungle who is brave enough to remove it is a little Mouse?\u00a0 Of course, the Lion is incredibly relieved and as a result, he is very grateful to the Mouse.\u00a0 He even shines a great big toothy smile at that Mouse.<\/p>\n

Something along those lines.<\/p>\n

I was reminded of this today.\u00a0 I had an eye exam.\u00a0 For the past few months, my left eye has been irritated at times.\u00a0 It felt like something was in it\u2026 and more often than not, it hurt.\u00a0 So the doctor discovered I had an eyelash growing in the wrong direction\u2026. up back into my eye.\u00a0 He plucked that sucker right out of there\u2026 and for the first time in a month\u2026 my eye went\u2026.\u201dAhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.\u201d\u00a0 Oh my gosh.\u00a0 It felt so much better right away.<\/p>\n

Hence, the lion and the mouse story.<\/p>\n

And then I got to thinking.\u00a0 Wouldn\u2019t it be great\u2026 if once a day\u2026 we could be the mouse for some lion in our lives?\u00a0 It wouldn\u2019t have to be earth-shattering\u2026. like curing their terrible illness\u2026 or stopping them from stepping off a curb into traffic.\u00a0 No.\u00a0 It could be really little and simple.\u00a0 Like a stuck thorn, or some rogue eyelash.<\/p>\n

It could be someone we know very well, or a complete stranger.\u00a0 Who knows. Maybe we always throw our dirty socks on the floor, and this makes your honey a little crazy.\u00a0 Well, maybe today, we put them in the laundry basket.\u00a0 Or\u2026. someone is struggling with a sack of groceries trying to open a door.\u00a0 So we take the time to open it.\u00a0 A homeless person, who is hungry\u2026 and we might buy them a sandwich.<\/p>\n

It could go a different way.\u00a0 Someone is sad, or stressed, or angry. Maybe we can be a listening ear, or a babysitter, or an errand-runner.\u00a0 Shoot.\u00a0 It might even be just telling a little joke, or going out for some dinner.<\/p>\n

We are just visitors here.\u00a0 With a whole bunch of other visitor\u2019s just like us.\u00a0 No one stays in this realm forever.\u00a0 Not as we know it.\u00a0 At times on this journey of ours, we are simply trying to find our way through this jungle.\u00a0\u00a0 One step at a time.<\/p>\n

Wouldn\u2019t it be a good thing to help people, however great or small\u2026. as they try to navigate through?\u00a0 We all need a little help\u2026. at times.<\/p>\n

I think it would be a great thing, if just today\u2026. we could be the mouse.\u00a0 To work up enough courage to do something\u2026. anything\u2026 which might make someone\u2019s life a little easier.\u00a0 Or less painful.\u00a0 Or happier.<\/p>\n

Pull that thorn from a paw.\u00a0 Or an eyelash from an eye.<\/p>\n

And when we do\u2026. the Universe will open its arms\u2026 and smile.<\/p>\n
