Don\u2019t you just love a pliable word.<\/p>\n

Of course, here in Preble County, the word which comes to mind this week, is Fair.<\/p>\n

Yes.\u00a0 The multi-faceted word…. Fair.<\/p>\n

It could mean\u2026.equitable, honest and honorable.\u00a0 You know\u2026. impartial, unbiased, unprejudiced\u2026. like being \u201cfair with someone.” Which… is a pretty good way to live.<\/p>\n

You could be talking about fair weather\u2026. fine, dry, bright, clear, and sunny.\u00a0 A fair and pleasant day.\u00a0 Like today here, in the southern part of Ohio.\u00a0 No rain.\u00a0 All was fair.<\/p>\n

Tow head.\u00a0 You know\u2026like fair hair. Blond, yellowish, golden, flaxen,\u00a0 and such.\u00a0 (A blind guy on a bar stool shouts to the bartender, “Wanna hear a blonde joke?” In a hushed voice, the guy next to him says, \u201cBefore you tell that joke, you should know something. Our bartender is blonde, the bouncer is blonde. I\u2019m a six foot tall, 200 lb black belt. The guy sitting next to me is six foot two, weighs 225, and he\u2019s a rugby player. The fella to your right is six foot five, pushing 300, and he\u2019s a wrestler. Each one of us is blonde. Think about it, Mister. Do you still wanna tell that joke?” The blind guy says, \u201cNah, not if I\u2019m gonna have to explain it five times.”\u00a0 )<\/em><\/p>\n

And a lot of times, you will find right with that type of hair\u2026 the same sort of fair skin\u2026.pale, light, light-colored, white.\u00a0 I would say pass the sunscreen, but recent studies have revealed we should not wear sunscreen anymore.\u00a0 I am telling you people…. it all changes by the minute. \u00a0 Gluten is OK.<\/p>\n

OK.\u00a0 Something could be fair as in\u2026. just passable, tolerable, satisfactory…. or… acceptable, all right, good enough.\u00a0 Or\u2026 just so-so.\u00a0 Not great.\u00a0 It can’t ALL be great.<\/p>\n

And finally\u2026 to the point of this whole thing.\u00a0 It could be what we have been having here in Preble County all week.\u00a0 The country fair.\u00a0 A carnival, festival, exhibition\u2026 the good old county fair.<\/p>\n

I have spent a fair amount of time this week\u2026 at our fair Fair.\u00a0 All in all\u2026 it was pretty fair.\u00a0 I saw a lot of fair people there.\u00a0 They were all very fair.\u00a0 Of course… the Fair couldn’t be fair enough, without all the fair food.\u00a0 Much of it was fair.<\/p>\n

I am fairly certain you have had enough of this.<\/p>\n

But truly.\u00a0 There are lots of great stories from the week and memories built to last.\u00a0 Experiences had.\u00a0 But the greatest of them all was much better than Fair.<\/p>\n

You see…. I ran into the Pig.\u00a0 It made my heart jump for joy.\u00a0 We sat together for hours, and caught up.\u00a0 Yes indeed.\u00a0 This was the Fairest Fair of\u00a0 Them All.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
