We get older.\u00a0 All of us.\u00a0 By the minute.<\/p>\n

In my mind, I think I am 23 years old.\u00a0 My body tells me differently some days.<\/p>\n

Okay. Most days.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve always had keen senses.\u00a0 I think it was a result of pretending\u00a0 that I was a SuperHero for the better part of my youth.\u00a0 The power of suggestion.<\/p>\n

The upshot of that… was that I developed things like great eyesight, an acute sense of smell, and sharp hearing.\u00a0 I also had lightning fast reflexes.<\/p>\n

These days\u2026 well\u2026.\u00a0 I guess I\u2019ve gone from Pseudo-Superhero to Mediocre-GoodCitizen.<\/p>\n

I wear glasses.\u00a0 Can\u2019t see much up close with out them.\u00a0 Or mid-range.
\nAnd unfortunately, I think my hearing might be slipping.<\/p>\n

For instance, I grocery-shop at Marsh.\u00a0 They are pretty awesome there.\u00a0 Rarely do you have to wait in long lines.\u00a0 They always have baggers, and always ask if you need help out to your car.<\/p>\n

Today, was no different.\u00a0 A manager came over and opened up extra lanes.\u00a0 Another upper-level person came over and started bagging.\u00a0 \u201cDo you need some help out?\u201d they asked.\u00a0 Well.\u00a0 I THOUGHT they said \u201cCan you help us out?\u201d (I saw they had very few people on duty.)\u00a0 To which I responded \u2026 \u201cSure, I can stay and help out.\u00a0 Can you just put my cart a cooler until I am done?\u201d<\/p>\n

They found great humor in this.<\/p>\n

And there goes the hearing.<\/p>\n

I still have a very discerning sense of smell.\u00a0 Sometimes this is an incredibly good thing and at other times\u2026 it is an absolute curse.<\/p>\n

But no matter, sharp or dull\u2026 these \u201cSenses\u201d of mine.\u00a0 I am SO thankful for them.\u00a0 I could not imagine a world without them, nor would I like to try.<\/p>\n

So here is to the dimming physicality of the SuperHero.\u00a0 Perhaps, if we hone our other SuperPowers\u2026 we can keep our capes.<\/p>\n

Like our ability to be aware.\u00a0 To be compassionate.\u00a0 To be kind.<\/p>\n

Now THOSE\u2026 truly are\u2026 Super Powers.<\/p>\n
