How much do we notice?\u00a0 This universe, this very planet, is packed with things that we are not even aware of.\u00a0 And if by chance we are privy to them…..\u00a0 often times they are things which we cannot see, or hear, or touch.<\/p>\n

Like the air.\u00a0 Or electricity.\u00a0 Energy without \u201cphysical\u201d form as we know it.\u00a0 How often do we consider such wonders?\u00a0 The perfect molecular composition of the atmosphere we breathe?\u00a0 What about heat, or gravity?\u00a0 Oh the things we have!\u00a0 WE haven’t even started to talk about cookies and ice cream yet.<\/p>\n

OK, so then, there are the multitudes of gifts we CAN see and hear and smell and touch.\u00a0 The sunrise melting the blanket of dew from the morning meadow.\u00a0 A song by the likes of Patty Griffin, or Vampire Weekend\u2026 or maybe Opera is the apple of your ear.\u00a0 Do we take the time to see, to hear\u2026. to notice?<\/p>\n

Henry David Thoreau wrote some very keen observations when he penned Walden.<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0 You see, he went into the woods to reflect.\u00a0\u00a0 And that he did.\u00a0 Old Hank said\u2026. \u201cTo be awake is to be alive.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

He also said that he had never met a man\u00a0 who was quite awake.\u00a0 And I have to agree with the most of it\u2026 I think these people are few and far between.\u00a0 When we begin to recognize, and realize\u2026 to grasp the incredible immensity of this gift\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026this gift we call life.\u00a0 And yet we strive to exist.\u00a0 We get by.\u00a0 We survive.\u00a0 But I wonder how many actually live?\u00a0 By waking each day with the immense anticipation of what might await?<\/p>\n

Thoreau goes on to tell us, \u201cI know of no more encouraging fact than the unquestionable ability of man to elevate his life by conscious endeavor.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Conscious Endeavor.\u00a0 Oh to see, and hear, and smell, and touch.\u00a0 To grasp and perceive.\u00a0 To breathe each lasting breath<\/p>\n
