Understatement.\u00a0 By definition, we know the understatement as this:\u00a0 The presentation of something\u2026.. as being smaller\u2026 or worse, or less important \u2026. than it actually is.<\/p>\n

Yep. Trivialized. Reserved.<\/p>\n

Today, it rained here.\u00a0 UNDERSTATEMENT.<\/p>\n

Holy pair of cows.\u00a0 Where is that Noah fellow when you need him?\u00a0 Yes, it rained here today.\u00a0 And rained, and rained, and rained.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know how many inches we got today, but I can\u2019t remember see our pond THAT high, and overflowing that rapidly.\u00a0 Big water.<\/p>\n

And that rain, gave me cause to write my first Country Western Song.
\n\u201cI was out catching chickens in the rain.\u201d<\/p>\n

I know it will be a big hit.\u00a0 That too, is an understatement.<\/p>\n

People will ask me at the Country People\u2019s Choice Awards\u2026. \u201cPolly!\u00a0\u00a0 How did you ever come up with the lyrics for \u201cCatching Chickens in the Rain?\u201d\u00a0 And I will have to tell them the long drawn out story\u2026..<\/p>\n

Which I am about to subject you to.\u00a0 Right here and now.<\/p>\n

You see it was my big idea to fix our Orpington Chicken Area, into integrated condos.\u00a0 The baby-er New Hampshires are still much too small to mix in with the Orps.\u00a0 PLUS\u2026. you have to do these things in stages.<\/p>\n

So for the past couple of days, our friend Mike has been fixing the Kronenberger Chicken Ranch.\u00a0 Yesterday\u2026. in the later afternoon\u2026 it was ALL ready.\u00a0 So bright and early, first thing\u2026. I moved those four little New Hamps to their new abode\u2026. from their confines of our garage Chicken Coopishness.<\/p>\n

Oh\u2026 Happy Chickens.\u00a0 They loved it.\u00a0 They were scratching, and moonwalking all over the place.\u00a0 Like chickens do.\u00a0 Again.\u00a0 Understatement.\u00a0 Catching bugs and pecking the ground is Chicken Nirvana.<\/p>\n

And then the rains came. And came.\u00a0 And came.\u00a0 At 5 p.m., I put on my rain slicker and walked out to assess the situation.<\/p>\n

Oh\u2026 Unhappy Chickens.\u00a0 Everything was five inches under water\u2026 \u2026 \u2026 okay\u2026 maybe 1 inch.\u00a0 But nonetheless.\u00a0 They couldn\u2019t even sit down in their new confines.\u00a0 (The Orpingtons had the nice wooden walled dry chicken coop)<\/p>\n

So.\u00a0 We switched horses midstream.\u00a0 Literally.\u00a0\u00a0 As a result\u2026 I had to go out in the pouring down rain\u2026 and catch four little chickens, while the Orpingtons watched from the safety and shelter of their coop.\u00a0\u00a0 I moved the New Hampshires back to the garage, where Mike had quickly set up their old pen.\u00a0 Soggy chickens\u2026 no more.\u00a0 In fact\u2026 dry\u2026 Happy Chickens.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd there you have it Taylor.\u00a0 That is where I got the idea.. for the song\u2026 now #1 on the billboard for 15 straight weeks.\u00a0 Who knew?\u201d<\/p>\n

As I am walking down the red carpet, while the flashes from the Paparazzi\u2019s Cameras illuminate my skin, it will dawn on me\u2026.<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0 Thank GOD we didn\u2019t have miniature donkeys.\u00a0 Can you imagine me carrying four donkeys in the rain?\u00a0\u00a0 And\u2026.
\n2. Sometimes in life\u2026 you have to take a different course.<\/p>\n

It is true.\u00a0 There are times when you think you have a clearly defined path, or way, or purpose.\u00a0 But then something unforeseen happens.\u00a0 If you are lucky enough, smart enough, or aware enough, you realize that it might not be the right way.\u00a0 And that it is time to adjust the sails\u2026. on a rainy day like today\u2026.. and head in a different direction.<\/p>\n
