I just thought of a funny little story which I don\u2019t think I\u2019ve ever told here.\u00a0 It happened a few years back when we had a place in Charleston.\u00a0 Here\u2019s the deal.\u00a0 I struck up a friendship with one of the cab driver\u2019s down there.\u00a0 He worked for Black Taxi Cabs\u2026 and our first interaction with that company was a bit of a fiasco.\u00a0 But that is another story.<\/p>\n

Anyway, my friend, the cab driver, I met at birthday party.\u00a0 His name was Brian Prass (I hope he isn\u2019t on FB\u2026 he\u2019ll ring my neck).<\/p>\n

So\u2026 to get back to it \u2026 one night\u2026 he had a late fare.\u00a0 It was a nun.\u00a0 She got into the cab and away they went.\u00a0 Unfortunately\u2026.\u00a0Brian couldn\u2019t quit staring at her.<\/p>\n

Well. Apparently she couldn\u2019t take it any more and she asked him why he kept staring.\u00a0 To which\u00a0Brian said\u2026.\u201dI have a question to ask you but I don’t want to offend you.”<\/p>\n

That old nun leaned forward and said “My dear son, you cannot offend me. When you’re as old as I am and have been a nun as long as I have, you get a chance to see and hear just about everything. I’m sure that there’s nothing you could say or ask that I would find offensive.”<\/p>\n

So crazy\u00a0Brian tells her\u2026..\u201dWell, I’ve always had a fantasy to have a nun kiss me.”<\/p>\n

I guess she looked a little startled at first and then told him that she would give him a kiss if he met two stipulations.\u00a0 He had to be single\u00a0 AND he had to be Catholic.<\/p>\n

Brian\u00a0got a little flippy and smiley\u2026. and said, “Yes, I am single and I’m Catholic too!”<\/p>\n

Unbelievable.\u00a0 The nun said\u2026 “OK, pull into the next alley.”<\/p>\n

So\u00a0Brian pulls his cab into the alley behind the Days Inn.\u00a0 And\u2026 of all things\u2026 that old nun fulfills his fantasy.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Brian was beside himself.\u00a0 Goofball.<\/p>\n

So\u2026 they pull back onto Meeting Street.\u00a0 But\u2026 here is the thing about Brian.\u00a0 He is a huge goofball.\u00a0 He started crying. “My dear child.” said the nun, “Why are you crying?”<\/p>\n

“Forgive me sister, but I have sinned. I lied, I must confess, I’m married and a I’m a Baptist.”<\/p>\n

The nun says, “That’s OK, I am on the way to a Halloween party, and my name is Kevin.”<\/p>\n

Okay\u2026 silly story.\u00a0 But there is a good lesson to be learned here.\u00a0 Things aren\u2019t always as they appear.\u00a0 We may think we know what something is.. by how it looks on the outside.\u00a0 But the truth is, we might not be able to tell much at all by outward appearances.<\/p>\n

Until we get to know something, we can\u2019t possibly know what it will be like.\u00a0\u00a0 And whatever that something is…. it may mean something entirely different to someone else.\u00a0\u00a0 This all goes for people too.<\/p>\n

I can only hope that I act with openness and compassion whenever I encounter someone new, or someone I don’t understand.\u00a0 There is no need to be cruel in life.\u00a0 There is only a need to be kind.<\/p>\n

Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive.\u00a0 —\u00a0 Dalai Lama<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love.\u00a0 —\u00a0 Lao Tzu<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\n A good friend of ours is having surgery tomorrow\u2026 which will be today by the time most of you read this.\u00a0 Time warp.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

At any rate\u2026 she may need a little cheering up.\u00a0 Apparently she lost a hip somewhere along the lines.. so those doctors are going to replace it\u2026 or some such business.\u00a0 So tomorrow\u2026I may tell a joke or something.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
