Grandma K in her hot wheels!\u00a0 \"grandmakdrives\"<\/p>\n

Today, we decided to go on an outing.\u00a0 A Sunday Afternoon Excursion.\u00a0 The destination we set upon was Yellow Springs, and our plan was to have a movie at The Little Art Theatre\u2026. you know the kind of movie\u2026 with subtitles and all.\u00a0 After the movie we were going to have dinner out.<\/p>\n

The best laid plans.<\/p>\n

We left the house right on time, and embarked on I-70 West.\u00a0 I like to drive when the speed limit is 70 m.p.h. or more.\u00a0 I like to go fast.\u00a0 Anyway\u2026 we were zipping right along until we hit Brookville.\u00a0 The Interstate Mavens had posted lots of signs saying there was a wreck ahead, and long waits were possible.<\/p>\n

Brilliant us.\u00a0 Let\u2019s shoot off at Brookville and head up to Route 40\u2026 that good Old National Road.\u00a0 Brilliant US.\u00a0 Brilliant every one else too.\u00a0 So now we were in bumper-to-bumper traffic on Rt. 40.\u00a0 But I assure you\u2026 I-70 looked worse.<\/p>\n

Then\u2026 me in my unending wisdom say\u2026 I bet we can keep going east on country roads\u2026 and make our way to Yellow Springs.\u00a0 As it turned out\u2026 we had a nice Sunday drive in the country.\u00a0 As it also turned out\u2026 it took us two hours to get to Yellow Springs and we missed the movie.<\/p>\n

That was okay with me.\u00a0 I am a slow reader\u2026. and subtitles put me at a severe disadvantage.<\/p>\n

As it went\u2026 we did a lot of walking around the Springs.. and shopping around the Springs.\u00a0 By nature, I am not a shopper.\u00a0 I like to know what I am after\u2026 go into a store\u2026 get it and get out.\u00a0 But today was different.\u00a0\u00a0 They had good stores in Yellow Springs.\u00a0 The kind that sells rocks, and things.<\/p>\n

We were hungry early and ate a very wonderful lunch at Ye Old Trail Tavern.\u00a0 (Built in 1827\u2026. the first home in Yellow Springs.\u00a0 And if you didn\u2019t know, YS was called Forest Village in those very early days.\u00a0\u00a0 It is a great old log structure\u2026 occupied by Francis Martin Hafner.. and built from trees cut where the Tavern stands.)\u00a0 I digress.<\/p>\n

My cheeseburger and fries were OFF the CHARTS good.<\/p>\n

Of course on our way out of town\u2026 we had to make sure Young\u2019s Dairy was still in business.\u00a0\u00a0 It is.\u00a0 They still serve ice cream too.<\/p>\n

And on home.<\/p>\n

I-70 was STILL backed up\u2026 7 hours later.<\/p>\n

Yet.\u00a0 The most curious part of the day\u2026 was driving past a car on Wayne Trace Road\u2026 very near our home.\u00a0 I am sure my Grandma Kronenberger was behind the wheel.\u00a0 I don\u2019t believe she drove a car when she was alive\u2026 but these days\u2026 she is tooling around Preble County in a Chevrolet Impala.<\/p>\n

What does it all mean?\u00a0 It means that time is like a bunch of feathers in a wind tunnel.\u00a0 It all just swirls around at will\u2026 sometimes very fast\u2026 and sometimes in a soft drift.\u00a0 And you never know where any one feather will land\u2026 or not.\u00a0 That is the anomaly of time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
