Today, is a pretty good day for history.\u00a0 Most days are actually.\u00a0 You\u2019d be downright surprised at the things that have happened in the past.\u00a0 Today\u2019s past\u2026. the Chinese Government seriously hacked the U.S Government\u2019s Computer System.\u00a0 Easy-Peasy-Japanesey.\u00a0 I\u2019m telling you, this is not a good piece of history.\u00a0 We\u2019ll have to see how this one plays out.<\/p>\n

But here are some more historical tidbits, from a little longer ago than just this afternoon.<\/p>\n

In 781 BC the oldest recording of\u00a0 a solar eclipse occurred, in China.\u00a0\u00a0 Yep.\u00a0 They were ahead of the game, even back then.<\/p>\n

On a lighter note\u2026 no pun intended\u2026.. the Montgolfier brothers launched the VERY first\u00a0 hot-air balloon\u2026. unmanned.\u00a0\u00a0 This happened in 1783.\u00a0 Then, a year later\u2026\u00a0\u00a0 in 1784\u2026. Madame Elizabeth Thible becomes the first female balloonist.\u00a0 I am pretty sure all of this happened in France.\u00a0 I wonder if sending a woman up… meant it was still… unmanned.<\/p>\n

Here is one of my favorites.\u00a0 In 1892, the Sierra Club was formed in San Francisco, California.\u00a0 Good Club.\u00a0 All about the environment.<\/p>\n

And then\u2026 the whole world changed.\u00a0 In 1896\u2026.. a Mr. Henry Ford took his first Ford Automobile through streets of Detroit.\u00a0 I think he was tooting his own horn.<\/p>\n

And then\u2026 MY whole world changed.\u00a0 You see\u2026 in 1907, the automatic washer & dryer were introduced.\u00a0 This is very good news for me\u2026 Ms. \u201cOCD Lover of Clean Clothes\u201d<\/p>\n

On this date in 1964, those good old Beatles started their World Tour in Copenhagen Denmark.\u00a0\u00a0 The titles of some of their songs create a synopsis of my life\u2026 I think.\u00a0 You see I started out looking like a Walrus until I was about 2 years old.\u00a0 Hence, \u201cI am the Walrus.\u201d\u00a0 And they skip around from there\u2026 including \u201cI\u2019m So Tired\u201d\u2026 \u201cThe Long and Winding Road\u201d\u2026\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cFixing A Hole\u201d\u2026. \u201cThe Fool on the Hill\u201d and \u201cEverybody\u2019s Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey.\u201d<\/p>\n

Finally, and perhaps my favorite historical fact for today\u2026\u00a0 a long time ago\u2026 in the year 1070 \u2026 in a cave far, far away\u2026 a cave in Roquefort, France to be exact\u2026 my very favorite Roquefort cheese was created.\u00a0\u00a0 There is a lot to be said for being Bleu.<\/p>\n

I am telling you.\u00a0 The list for June 4th goes on, and on, for some very extraordinary occurrences.\u00a0 Many are happy.\u00a0 Many are sad.\u00a0 And many are just super.\u00a0 Like in 1967\u2026 The Monkees took home an Emmy for their Outstanding Comedy Series.\u00a0 Now that is worth laughing about.<\/p>\n

So it just goes to show you\u2026 on any given day\u2026 anywhere\u2026 something spectacular can happen.\u00a0 Just grab any day in history, and you will find this to be true.<\/p>\n

So\u2026 when WE wake up each day\u2026 maybe our first thought should be\u2026 \u201cSomething spectacular is going to happen today. \u201c\u00a0 And as the Beatles so aptly put\u2026 “Across the Universe”…. \u201cLet It Be\u201d…”Here, There, and Everywhere.”<\/p>\n
