If you read here very often\u2026 you know that we now have chickens.<\/p>\n

So today, we visited some friends who own a farm\u2026 not only to share the evening and have dinner\u2026 but also for Farming 101.<\/p>\n

Boy oh boy did I learn a lot.<\/p>\n

First of all\u2026 they live on Sweet Potato Ridge Road.\u00a0 Now if you own a farm\u2026 it had BETTER be on a road with a good farming name.\u00a0 Such as this one.\u00a0 Living on Highway Road, or Busy Street\u2026. would not be as good.<\/p>\n

Next.\u00a0 Some Chickens are religious.\u00a0 They showed me this particular batch and called them Friars.\u00a0 Who knew chickens could be members of\u00a0 this religious order of men\u2026. which includes the four mendicant orders (Augustinians, Carmelites, Dominicans, and Franciscans).\u00a0 In other words\u2026 they are Monk Chickens, I guess.\u00a0 Like Monk Fish?\u00a0 I am not sure.\u00a0 But they definitely called them Friars.<\/p>\n

There was a lot more.\u00a0 Special Gardens. Our friend says they grow pickles.\u00a0 I am assuming for Vlassic, or Clausen.\u00a0 Vegetables galore.\u00a0 Big Dogs.\u00a0 Funny Cats.\u00a0 Ducks, Rabbits, Chickens, Cows, and a Miniature Horse.\u00a0 I sure did meet a whole bunch of animals today.<\/p>\n

I have a lot more to see and learn about this farming deal.\u00a0 I never knew that gathering chicken eggs could be so much fun\u2026. but that you are not really supposed to drop the gathered eggs on the ground after you have all of them \u2026. as they say\u2026 in one basket.<\/p>\n

One of these days…\u00a0 I will learn all there is to know about farming.\u00a0 And I’ll be able to tell you things… like which came first?\u00a0 The chicken or the egg? \u00a0 \u00a0 But until then…<\/p>\n

…..\u00a0 this one I don\u2019t know if I get.\u00a0 A baby cow nursing on a miniature horse.\u00a0 I was relieved to find out this was NOT a boy horse\u2026 because that would have been totally embarrassing.\u00a0 None the less, it was still pretty embarrassing.<\/p>\n

I guess when it came to giving milk…. maybe the Calf’s own mother was….\u00a0 an Udder Failure.<\/p>\n
