Today is Yogi Berra\u2019s Birthday.
\nNot to be confused with Yogi Bear.<\/p>\n

Okay, so let\u2019s start with the truth about his name.\u00a0 His real FULL name is\u00a0 Yogi Berra.\u00a0 Now, who really does that to a kid.\u00a0 He was born in 1925, and he is a Taurus like me.\u00a0 Or I am a Taurus like him, more to the point.<\/p>\n

Now believe it or not, he started out as a door-to-door encyclopedia salesman.\u00a0 It was his dream from the time he was a boy.\u00a0 As it turns out, Yogi was no good at it.\u00a0 He didn\u2019t have a very good memory, and this is critical for an encyclopedia salesman, as you might imagine.\u00a0 To which he observed\u2026 \u201cI’m not going to buy my kids an encyclopedia. Let them walk to school like I did.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

One day he was tossing the ball around with some pals, and they thought he ought to try out for the big time.\u00a0 Yogi replied\u2026\u201dWhat the heck.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/em> And off he went to the Big Apple.<\/p>\n

He played in NY almost his entire 19 year career, from 1946 to 1965.<\/p>\n

He was pretty good too.\u00a0 He won the AL MVP award three times.\u00a0 As a player, coach, or manager, he appeared in 21 World Series, winning 13 of them.<\/p>\n

He was the first guy to\u00a0 pinch hit a World Series homer.
\nHe went errorless as a catcher.\u00a0 His streak was 148 games.
\nAfter the game, he always enjoyed a big dinner.\u00a0 Once at Antonia\u2019s Famous Pizzeria on the corner of 5th and Broad, he decided to start watching his waistline.\u00a0 He told the waiter\u2026 \u201cYou better cut the pizza in four pieces because I’m not hungry enough to eat six.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

He was a really good guy.\u00a0 AND, in 1972, Old Yogi, & Sandy Koufax, & Early Wynn were elected to Hall of Fame<\/p>\n

But let\u2019s forget\u00a0 about Yogi the Baseball Man.\u00a0 Let us regard him in a much higher sense.\u00a0 His philosophical Waxings.\u00a0 Some of my greatest life lessons I have learned from this man.<\/p>\n

And I will share a couple with you tonight.<\/p>\n

On life in general\u2026.
\n You can observe a lot by just watching.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Regarding you life purpose\u2026.
\n If you don’t know where you are going, you might wind up someplace else.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

When things don\u2019t seem confusing enough\u2026.
\n In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

And, why giving advice to others may be a bad idea\u2026.
\nThere are some people who, if they don’t already know, you can’t tell ’em.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Finally\u2026. Your life destination.\u00a0 The Secrets to it ALL when it comes to figuring out this thing we call life.<\/p>\n

1. When you come to a fork in the road, take it.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

2. The future ain’t what it used to be.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
