Do you ever feel like Hansel and Gretel?<\/p>\n

Not like when the witch is stuffing them into the oven.\u00a0 That would be a really bad day\u2026 if you are feeling like Hansel and Gretel at that particular time in their lives.<\/p>\n

But much earlier in their day\u2026 when they first start out together.<\/p>\n

Actually,\u00a0 the entire story is pretty pathetic, from the very beginning.\u00a0 I mean\u2026 that dang old mean step-mother says they eat too much, so she decides to abandon them deep into the woods and leave them there.\u00a0 AND, she brow beats the poor father into agreeing to this plan.\u00a0 Yep.\u00a0 Go Hansel.\u00a0 Go Gretel.\u00a0 Go to the deep dark forest\u2026..to fend for yourselves….\u00a0 you, you, you little piggies.<\/p>\n

But wait\u2026 not only are they big eaters… they are smart kids too.\u00a0 And, as a result, they drop white pebbles and get back home\u2026. by retracing their steps.\u00a0 And once there\u2026 \u201cMuuuummmmmeeeee.\u00a0 Weeee\u2019rrrrrre Bacccccckkkkkk!\u201d<\/p>\n

Oh For Crying Out Loud.\u00a0\u00a0 It is back to the woods they go\u2026 this next time carrying NO pebbles.\u00a0 Horrible StepMom makes sure.\u00a0 But Hansel\u2026 he grabs a slice of Wonder Bread.\u00a0 This time he leaves a trail of bread crumbs.\u00a0 (They were out of peanut butter, or he might have just made a sandwich.) But alas.. that saving crumb trail\u2026.<\/p>\n

And the hungry birds\u2026..<\/p>\n

Well\u2026 you know the rest of the story.<\/p>\n

But back to my premise.\u00a0 Do you ever feel like Hansel and Gretel?\u00a0 Starting out on an unknown adventure?\u00a0 Perhaps it may be a little scary, or unknown.\u00a0 You just don\u2019t know what will come around the bend.\u00a0 So you try to leave a way…. to get back where you started.\u00a0 Retrace your steps.\u00a0 Get back to the safety zone.<\/p>\n

Yet.\u00a0 It may turn out better if we don\u2019t fall back on what we know.\u00a0 Even if we want to.\u00a0 Sometimes we have to forge ahead.\u00a0 We have to traipse through those big woods… and go to that old Gingerbread House, and fight the gnarly, scary, horrible witch.\u00a0 Although… look what happens.\u00a0 Once we show our mettle, well\u2026 we get the pot of gold, or the treasure\u2026 or the really big gumdrop.\u00a0 Whatever it was\u2026 you were after.\u00a0 Perhaps, even, your wildest dream.<\/p>\n

The fact that the crappy stepmother dies when the children have killed the witch,\u00a0 suggests to me that the despicable\u00a0 stepmother and the witch are metaphorically the same woman.<\/p>\n

So it is with life.\u00a0 Sometimes that thing to over come\u2026 that thing we dread\u2026 is directly tied to something else.\u00a0 Or maybe they are one in the same\u2026 but we have to get by that \u201cthing\u201d we dread.\u00a0 Over the hurdle.\u00a0 To move on.<\/p>\n

And we do.<\/p>\n

We overcome.\u00a0 We win.\u00a0 We succeed.\u00a0 We persevere.<\/p>\n

And then we return
\nRight back where we belong.
\nEven if \u201cRight Back Where We Belong\u201d isn\u2019t where we started at all.\u00a0 BUT…. …\u00a0 it is … completely right.<\/p>\n

And we know it.
\nTHAT Hansel and Gretel feeling.<\/p>\n

Yep, tomorrow, when I start out the day… someone please remind me…\u2026 to remember the Wonder Bread.<\/p>\n
