Tonight\u2026 I don\u2019t really have a lot of hot air in me.\u00a0 So\u2026 instead I will tell you a short, but very true story.<\/p>\n

I for one, have never ridden in one.\u00a0 I am not sure that I ever will.\u00a0 I\u2019d probably like it.\u00a0 But there have been some pretty unsuccessful stories concerning the Hot Air Balloon.<\/p>\n

When they were first invented and launched, they went up and came down\u2026 without a soul in them.\u00a0 But the first \u201cmanned flight\u201d was NOT really manned at all.\u00a0 It was anim-ated.\u00a0 Yep.\u00a0 Filled with a couple of animals.<\/p>\n

On the 19th Day of September in the year 1783 a guy name Pilatre De Rozier scheduled a launch.\u00a0 His hot air balloon was called ‘Aerostat Reveillon’.\u00a0 Now, this guy was a scientist and he had a very good reason for the choice of his passengers.\u00a0\u00a0 Most of which came directly from his boss.<\/p>\n

You see, scientists back then, typically did not have a lot of money.\u00a0 So they sought out \u201csponsors\u201d for their explorations.\u00a0 Pilatre De Rozier, (let\u2019 call him Pat) was no different.\u00a0 He found a very rich Jean Picot. (How\u2019s John sound from here on out.)<\/p>\n

So the morning of the launch, John and Pat were getting the basket ready, testing early hot air fills.\u00a0 They tethered the basket to the ground with stakes, and such.\u00a0 On the second air fill, they were discussing \u201cWHO\u201d should go up.\u00a0 Well\u2026 the basket started to drift a bit\u2026 and Boss John said to Pat\u2026. in his French-ness\u2026.. \u201cDuck you cock.\u201d<\/p>\n

Well, the basket hit Pat and knocked him down, but that was neither here nor there.\u00a0 However, an hour later, during the real launch, Boss John thought Pat was taking the thing up for a spin.<\/p>\n

Much to his surprise, up went a duck and a sheep, and a rooster.\u00a0\u00a0 John yelled to Pat\u2026 \u201cYou idiot. What have you done?\u201d<\/p>\n

Pat replied\u2026 \u201cExactly what you said.\u00a0 Balloon! Duck! Ewe! Cock!\u201d<\/p>\n
