Some things are fading away.<\/p>\n

In fact… certain parts of the English Language are disappearing.\u00a0 The long and the short of it… SLANG is here one day, and gone the next.<\/p>\n

Today, things are Phat.\u00a0 Or Sick…. when they are something “good”….<\/p>\n

Hmmmm.\u00a0 I guess that is vomitous.\u00a0 In a good way.<\/p>\n

But yesteryear had some great phrases.\u00a0 They seemed to have a lot more color and creativity.\u00a0 I mean… they would make people today want to twerk.<\/p>\n

Okay, Okay.\u00a0 Just a few off the top of my head…..<\/p>\n

The Bee’s Knees.
\nThe Cat’s Meow.
\nToo big for your britches.
\nPalooka.
\nJust fell off the turnip truck.
\nStool Pigeon.
\nWhat do you want, an egg in your beer?<\/p>\n

I tell you.\u00a0 Those are some good ones.<\/p>\n

So why the hubbub?\u00a0 Well.\u00a0 Today I mentioned to some that I had to go the John.\u00a0 She looked at me like I was from Neptune.<\/p>\n

I said… “You know.\u00a0 The John.\u00a0 The Restroom…..\u00a0 The Toilet.”
\nShe just stared at me blankly.<\/p>\n

When did people quit calling the john…. the JOHN?\u00a0 It started a long time ago.. .and probably should be remembered with every trip there.<\/p>\n

You see…..the first recorded inventor of flush toilet is John Harrington.
\nAlthough John’s design was a precursor to the modern flush toilet system…. he designed it way back in 1596.<\/p>\n

But….. (no pun intended)…..such systems did not come into widespread use until the late nineteenth century.\u00a0 And of course most people have heard of that designer.\u00a0 It was one…. Thomas Crapper …. who got the ball floating in England.<\/p>\n

When you gotta’ go… you gotta’ go.\u00a0 To the John, that is.<\/p>\n

And….you better shake a leg… or you will be all washed up…. before you get to the hoity toity.<\/p>\n
