From the time he was very, very, young\u2026. in fact\u2026 from the time he was just one of three-thousand eggs in the egg-string out of his mother, Floyd dreamt of being the All-Mighty Pond Filler.<\/p>\n

As a little Tadpole, he made sure he became the fastest and most furious swimmer of his 2,978 brothers and sisters.\u00a0 Many of them became fish food.\u00a0 But not Floyd. He swam swiftly, and hid well.<\/p>\n

He had a dream.\u00a0 Pond Filler.\u00a0 The One and Only Pond-Filler.\u00a0 This was King of All Things. It was far more important than the Lilly-Pad-Fairy, or the Fly-Catcher.\u00a0 The Stories and Legends of all the Pond Fillers at Frog Pond were \u2026 well\u2026. quite legendary.\u00a0 Despite popular belief, those ponds don’t fill up on their own.<\/p>\n

There was Ferdinand, and Frederick, and the most famous Filler\u2026.\u00a0 Fritz. A close second is Fabian, but Fabian was blonde, so that was one big ding against him.\u00a0 BUT\u2026., but Fritz was the First.<\/p>\n

Yes, Fritz was the original Pond Filler.\u00a0 He was given charge to watch over the filling ritual, by a Human 12-year-old boy, named Jan Van der Heiden, The year was 1652, in Amsterdam. Van der Heiden invented the Hose.
\nSince that time, Pond Fillers are second to none.\u00a0 The Royals.\u00a0 If a girl kisses a Pond Filler, her lips get wet with pond water.\u00a0 The whole \u201cturning into a prince\u201d thing is Frog-Wash.<\/p>\n

So, on Floyd\u2019s Second Birthday, he took part in the Pond-Filler Contest.\u00a0 Everyone thought he was much too small\u2026 and a little bit over ambitious.\u00a0 But despite the world\u2019s misgivings\u2026.. Floyd won with ease.\u00a0 He has been Pond-Filler since and\u2026. now at the ripe old age of 11 years\u2026. defends his Title annually.<\/p>\n

He is a kind and benevolent Pond Filler, smiling and waving at all the Pond Residents as he fills.\u00a0 He never spares a drop.<\/p>\n

Anyway\u2026 the job of the Pond Filler is to watch over the hose while the water goes in.\u00a0 The human turns the water on and off, but the filler watches.\u00a0 He guards that hose.\u00a0 And that is Floyd\u2019s proud and glorious job.<\/p>\n

He stands Guarding Hose.<\/p>\n

So the reason I tell you this story is because\u2026.. all these years\u2026. you have been saying it wrong.\u00a0 It is NOT called a Garden Hose.\u00a0 It is called Guarding Hose\u2026 because of the Pond Fillers and their Guarding of Hoses.<\/p>\n
