Every once in a while\u2026it is fun to go out on the town.\u00a0 We were so excited about seeing the show.\u00a0\u00a0 I truly love Broadway Shows, and the Theater in general.<\/p>\n

We had a few friends join us there.\u00a0 We went to see another friend of ours\u2026. John Matthews… also an actor in the play.\u00a0 It was his big break in an acclaimed theater performance.\u00a0 His character\u2019s name was Mr. Coyle.\u00a0 He played an attorney of all things.\u00a0 He was so great!\u00a0 The play was really entertaining too.<\/p>\n

All of the actors and actresses were right on.\u00a0 Timing was perfect.\u00a0 The play was hilarious.\u00a0 And then, just as Harry Hawk delivered on of the funniest lines of the play\u2026.\u00a0 It was something like\u2026.<\/p>\n

“Don’t know the manners of good society, eh? Well, I guess I know enough to turn you inside out, old gal; you sockdologizing old man-trap!”<\/em> Hysterical laughter began permeating the theater.<\/p>\n

And then I heard that sound.\u00a0 It sounded like a huge firecracker\u2026 or \u2026 a gun shot.<\/p>\n

A man leaped from the balcony above, and right onto the stage.\u00a0 He yelled something, but I couldn\u2019t make out what he said.<\/p>\n

The next thing I COULD understand…. hit me like someone sucker-punched my gut.\u00a0 \u201cPresident Lincoln\u2019s been shot!\u201d<\/p>\n

I loved President Lincoln.\u00a0 I thought he was doing so much good for our country, and for the rights of the black people in the South.\u00a0 Well, everywhere really.<\/p>\n

But not everyone agreed.<\/p>\n

I guess that is one way it might have happen…..on April 14, 1865. \u00a0 John Wilkes Booth, a famous actor and Confederate sympathizer, fatally shot President Abraham Lincoln at a play at Ford\u2019s Theatre in Washington, D.C. The attack came only five days after Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered his massive army at Appomattox Court House, Virginia, effectively ending the American Civil War.<\/p>\n

Lincoln could not be saved and would die during the night.
\nHe was officially pronounced dead at 7:22 a.m.<\/p>\n

One of the saddest days in American History.<\/p>\n

And today…. 150 years later… we are still struggling with simple human rights.\u00a0 Here in the U.S. …. and abroad.\u00a0 Abe, we sure could use another round of you.<\/p>\n
