Some words in our vocabulary\u2026. get pulverized.\u00a0 They used to mean something good and wholesome.\u00a0 And all of a sudden\u2026. a perfectly good word like (or name) gets plastered.<\/p>\n

Like.. \u2026. awesome.
\nOr\u2026 \u2026\u00a0 totally.<\/p>\n

But on an entirely different plane, is the non-slang.\u00a0 Take this word, in fact.\u00a0 Enable.<\/p>\n

Now years ago it was a pretty good dang word.
\nEnable.
\nEnable the verb.\u00a0 It meant (and still means)\u2026..\u00a0 to\u00a0 give (someone or something) the authority or means to do something.\u00a0 OR it meant you make something possible.<\/p>\n

Now how great is that when you give someone possibilities?<\/p>\n

But now\u2026 these days\u2026 it is almost always associated with addiction, or bad behavior.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, he enables his son\u2019s drinking.\u201d\u00a0 Or\u2026. \u201cShe enables him to act that way.\u201d\u00a0 Not so snappy.<\/p>\n

So.\u00a0 I must fess up.\u00a0 I am a bit of an enabler.\u00a0 You see\u2026. my 91 year old Mom loves (and I mean LOVES) Lay\u2019s plain potato chips and Diet Coke.\u00a0 Seriously.\u00a0 I buy her lots of Lay\u2019s Chips, and Diet Cokes.\u00a0 In fact, I give her one of each …. everyday.\u00a0 She doesn\u2019t just remember that she has had one 10 minutes ago.. \u2026. so \u2026 somedays she gets two.\u00a0 And that is just from me.\u00a0 Heaven only knows how many more she gets in a day, where she lives.<\/p>\n

But the way I figure it\u2026 at 91 years old\u2026 if it makes her happy\u2026. I will enable away.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m a bit of a Chip Pusher\u2026 the \u201cGuy on the Street\u201d\u2026. the Bagman.\u00a0 The Supplier.<\/p>\n

But we all have our own Lay\u2019s Potato Chips and Diet Cokes\u2026 I think.\u00a0 Some have it with food\u2026 like ice cream or chocolate\u2026. or chicken eggs (and Diet Cokes).\u00a0 Some people have their addictions in other areas\u2026 like alcohol, drugs, shopping, or even vanity.\u00a0 It all depends. I guess.<\/p>\n

I think it is okay to enjoy our \u201cthings\u201d as long as we can somehow do it in moderation.\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 I think moderation is the key.<\/p>\n

As long as those things don\u2019t keep us from reaching our greatest of heights.\u00a0 Because of all the things we do in life\u2026 probably the most important is to reach our highest best.\u00a0 We can still have the things we love.\u00a0 It is called enjoying life.\u00a0 Heck….\u00a0 it may even make us better people.<\/p>\n

And with those highest heights….. I\u2019m not talking about success in the way of jobs, or riches, or fame.\u00a0 I\u2019m talking about the the success that lies within finding your innermost spark, and taking it all the way.<\/p>\n

Singing at the top of your lungs.\u00a0 Dancing your happy feet left and right, and back across the floor again.\u00a0 Helping someone find their way.\u00a0 Feeding a hungry person.\u00a0 Sharing your wit and intelligence.\u00a0 Smiling at just the right minute.\u00a0 WE all have our own sparks in life.<\/p>\n

Wave to us all…. from your best height.
\nAND….. Be \u2026.. uhhhmmmmmm\u2026 be Totally Awesome.<\/p>\n
