Human emotions can really be something.\u00a0 We have a whole caboodle of them, I\u2019ll tell you.\u00a0 Everything from happiness, surprise, anger, courage, pity, patience, and more.\u00a0 And of course.. .there is always fear.<\/p>\n

People are afraid of different things.\u00a0 Some people seek out the emotion of fear.\u00a0 We go on rides at amusement parks to scare us\u2026 or to haunted houses at Halloween\u2026\u00a0 perhps, even,\u00a0 diving off bridges with bungee cords on our ankles.\u00a0 Heck\u2026 watching scary movies.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve had the opportunity to spend a bit of time with most of my siblings this past week. Some out-of-towners are IN.\u00a0 This evening, we were talking about watching scary movies as kids\u2026 on Shock Theater.\u00a0 It used to scare the hair right off our chinny-chin-chins.<\/p>\n

And sometimes, the things which used to scare us\u2026 don\u2019t scare us any more.\u00a0 In my case, spiders, snakes, flying, heights, and a few others\u2026 are all fears of the past.\u00a0 Same goes for those old movies on Shock Theater. Most are down right cheesy now.\u00a0 Those frights are gone.<\/p>\n

But there are certain circumstances which cause more fear than we like to know.\u00a0 It typically happens, when something is wrong with someone we love or truly care about.\u00a0 I had one of those things today.<\/p>\n

This morning, as I was plotting out my most important day, and all the \u201cimportant\u201d things that had to be done\u2026 I was told that our oldest, and smallest dog, Maxine\u2026 had just ingested a large pink pellet of rat poison.<\/p>\n

That sort of thing will certainly upend you.\u00a0 I was\u00a0 filled with fear.\u00a0 In an instant.<\/p>\n

As it turns out, she seems to be okay, for now.\u00a0 We sought out medical help, and they did as much as they can do for such a thing.\u00a0 When I was at the Vet\u2019s Office with her\u2026 well\u2026 waiting while they worked\u2026..\u00a0 I started to breathe and tried to release my \u201cwant\u201d\u00a0 for control and predictability.\u00a0 I had to let go of the fact that I am never, REALLY… the one who is calling the shots.\u00a0 Control is impossible to get.\u00a0 I mean\u2026.. even if you are a world class swimmer, it is still possible to drown.<\/p>\n

And today, was a little rough, but I am now filled with other emotions, as things calmed down.<\/p>\n

The biggest of those are gratitude and hope.<\/p>\n

I can only think that my awareness of gratitude and hope have been elevated\u2026. because of this early brush with fear.<\/p>\n

I also think that most of the time, things happen for a reason.\u00a0 And that reason is learning how to live life.\u00a0 In this case, I was reminded that my \u201cimportant\u201d list of things today\u2026 became quite unimportant\u2026 without a moment\u2019s notice.<\/p>\n

It also reminded me that the Universe is working however it is working\u2026 without any consultation from me.<\/p>\n

I am not sure it makes those \u201cuncomfortable\u201d times any easier, but at least I can try to learn from life\u2019s lessons.<\/p>\n
