The Wild West.<\/p>\n<p>But Mexico was WAY, WAY wilder.\u00a0 And way more dangerous.\u00a0 Much like it is today\u2026. even when you compare it to the south side of LA.<\/p>\n<p>But nonetheless, El Owel was one of the most renowned bandits of the time.\u00a0 His real name was Pancho El Owelez.\u00a0 He used to rob trains, stage coaches, banks, and even rich people\u2026 right in their own homes.<\/p>\n<p>About the only places he didn\u2019t steal money from was whore houses and saloons.\u00a0 For obvious reasons.\u00a0 Nobody, not even a Mexican Bandit\u2026 wishes to burn bridges.<\/p>\n<p>At any rate, he was pretty fierce, against the entities he stole money from.\u00a0 And he stole a lot.\u00a0 He made Jesse James look like Shirley Temple.\u00a0\u00a0 But he had a good side too.\u00a0 He always gave a bunch of the money to the poor people.\u00a0 He would ride through the towns\u2026 and EVERYONE knew he was coming.\u00a0 El Owel would throw Gold Pesos and Gold Escudos in the streets.\u00a0 (Even the \u201csheriffs\u201d would look the other way\u2026 as they were grabbing up gold coins.)<\/p>\n<p>But here is the deal.\u00a0 He used to laugh out loud when he was robbing people.\u00a0 He laughed his fool head off. And he had a funny high pitched laugh.. reportedly.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone loved him.\u00a0 Everyone would shout his name in the streets.\u00a0 (Well&#8230; the poor &#8220;Everyone&#8221;)\u00a0 But they would shout&#8230;. El Owel!\u00a0 El Owel!\u00a0 Graffiti followed of course.\u00a0 And when people penned letters, and wanted to express laughter or delight\u2026 they would write his name.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, over the years, this was handed down, time and again.\u00a0\u00a0 These days we can find it in our modern culture&#8230; mostly on the internet.\u00a0 LOL.<\/p>\n<p id=\"tw-target-text\" class=\"tw-data-text vk_txt tw-ta tw-text-medium\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Translation\">And that is the way and the legend&#8230;. of the dirty, low-down, dusty, stealing, conniving, good-natured, kind-hearted, generous, Mexican Bandit.<br \/>\nLOL.\u00a0 LOL.\u00a0 El Owel!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Estoy lleno de mierda.<\/p>\n<div class=\"copy-paste-block\"><em><strong><span class=\"bqQuoteLink\">I realize that humor isn&#8217;t for everyone.
