Every one who lives in a place where the season’s change…. is… probably ready for Spring.<\/p>\n

I am the first one in line, most likely.<\/p>\n

But here in Ohio, we keep getting hammered by Old Man Winter.\u00a0 Jack Frost.\u00a0 FreezeBoy February.<\/p>\n

Well dang it anyhow.\u00a0 Now it is March.\u00a0 Certainly, we can hope for brighter days ahead?\u00a0 Or not.<\/p>\n

No matter. Rest assured…..\u00a0 There is plenty to do in March, regardless of WHAT the crappy weather may or may not do.<\/p>\n

Here are some ACTUAL offbeat holidays which are recognized, and celebrated in March.\u00a0 So put your party hats on… start shaking your Maracas….\u00a0 it is TIME to Carumba.<\/p>\n

Okay. First Holiday.\u00a0 If you like pigs… you missed it.\u00a0 March 1 was National Pig Day.\u00a0 Oink.<\/p>\n

Another one you missed was yesterday…. Dr. Seuss’ Birthday.
\nDo not feel bad you missed the day.
\nYou see I missed it too.
\nI was so busy feeling fine…
\nthat I went off to the zoo.
\nI saw a Wide-Mouthed BaWuna there.
\nIT looked just like a fish.
\nI would have sang the birthday song.
\nBut now I’ll just make a wish.<\/p>\n

Okay.\u00a0 Back at it.\u00a0 March 4th is a biggie.\u00a0 If you catch this column at breakfast you are in Ginormous Luck.\u00a0 Today in National Pancake Day.\u00a0 Stack up ’em up friends… and slather ’em with Maple Syrup.<\/p>\n

The list goes on and on.\u00a0 There’s everything from National Goof-Off Day (3.22) to National Middle-Name-Pride Day (3.7).<\/p>\n

And the usual suspects.. . like National Pi Day (3.14) and The Ides of March (3.15).<\/p>\n

My personal favorite rolls around on March 10.\u00a0 It is Mario day.\u00a0 You see… Mario is spelled out by MAR. 10.\u00a0 Clever, huh?\u00a0 And heaven knows, I love to play Super Mario Brothers.<\/p>\n

But my point is this.<\/p>\n

There is SO much to do in March.\u00a0 And it didn’t just fall out that way.\u00a0 People sat down and came up with these holidays.\u00a0\u00a0 Wasteful you say?\u00a0 Goofy, stupid?<\/p>\n

Well… maybe.\u00a0 But it seems to me that sometimes in life… we NEED to look forward to things.\u00a0 And if you don’t have anything to look forward to…. it might be good to start making things up.<\/p>\n

I think some people live their lives that way.\u00a0 The SEEK OUT something to look forward to.\u00a0 While others just sit around and complain about their lives… and the miserable lives of others.<\/p>\n

If I had to pick one or the other… I think the “looking forward to things” sounds like a better idea.<\/p>\n

Now excuse me, while I go get ready for National Proofreading Day.\u00a0 It is one of my faverites.\u00a0 Favrits.\u00a0 Favorats.\u00a0 Dang it.\u00a0 It is one of my best choices.<\/p>\n
