Do you ever happen upon an emotion or a connection, somewhere you didn\u2019t imagine that you ever would?\u00a0 There are connections all around us, I think.\u00a0 Unknown connections too.<\/p>\n

You see.\u00a0 We have bird feeders.\u00a0 In fact, we fill them with seed, to feed said birds.\u00a0 But we get bonus guests as a result.\u00a0 Sometimes they are mystery guests\u2026 like on a game show.\u00a0 But on other occasions, we have the opportunity to see our random callers.<\/p>\n

Some times, they take the form of a squirrel, raccoon (mystery-guest with a\u00a0 mask), or even a possum.\u00a0 But many times, right up here near the house\u2026 they are the \u201ccuter-than-ever\u201d chipmunks.\u00a0 Oh my goodness.\u00a0 They are so adorable.\u00a0 But, right now, they are pretty skinny.\u00a0 I guess the winter sleep was long and hard.<\/p>\n

However\u2026. back in the fall\u2026 they looked like Dom Deluise, or John Candy\u2026 or something.\u00a0 A little on the plumpish side.<\/p>\n

Anyway, today I looked out and there was a little chippy.\u00a0 A word about our feeders.\u00a0 The poles are seated in rock, and at the base of each pole is an area of small river rock.<\/p>\n

So.\u00a0 Chippy.\u00a0 The little guy was out there foraging for food.\u00a0 And that tiny fella’ would pick up one of those little river rocks and heave it out of his way.\u00a0 Then he\u2019d pick up another and toss it over his shoulder.\u00a0 It was like watching Fred Flintstone move boulders.\u00a0 I laughed out loud.<\/p>\n

And there you have it.\u00a0 That, is just one very small example of the blessings that nature brings us.\u00a0 Those amazing connections.\u00a0 Being in nature is nice.\u00a0 This, coming from a \u201ccomfort-seeking-home-body\u201d\u2026.<\/p>\n

But it is true.\u00a0 Being out in nature feels good sometimes.\u00a0 I think the reason is that it is so very full of these blessings of nature itself.\u00a0 It reminds us that we are just a very small part of the bigger equation.\u00a0 We are useful and viable pieces of the universe.\u00a0 But we share it with a lot of others.\u00a0 Others which are\u2026 sometimes \u201clike\u201d us\u2026 and sometimes very \u201cdifferent.\u201d<\/p>\n

Which brings me to our lovely and beautiful dogs.\u00a0 When you look in the eyes of any living being, there is a sign of something much, much deeper there.\u00a0 Unless\u2026 of course\u2026 it is the likes of a Stepford Wife.<\/p>\n

Again, digression.<\/p>\n

My point is this.\u00a0 When I look into the eyes of our dogs, there seems to be some kind of understanding and connection.\u00a0 It is one that only exists between them and you.\u00a0 They know it.\u00a0 You know it.\u00a0 Another gift of our natural world.\u00a0 This reminder that we are all connected.\u00a0 On so many levels.<\/p>\n

It is like 3-dimensional-connect-the-dots, on speed.<\/p>\n

Again, I shall propose.\u00a0 There are so many connections in this world, and beyond, which our very limited brains do not understand.\u00a0 We get ourselves all clogged-up and bogged-down, with details, and noise, and digital clutter.\u00a0 But what we might just need to do is breath in\u2026. exhale\u2026 look around and take notice of WHAT we are a part of.<\/p>\n

What I know tonight that I am thankful to be a part of this world, this universe.\u00a0 To be a small piece of this very large clock-works.\u00a0 And I am especially glad to be sharing it with nature, and all of those kingdom\u2019s creatures.\u00a0 Like chipmunks.<\/p>\n
