{"id":3213,"date":"2015-03-12T23:49:44","date_gmt":"2015-03-13T03:49:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gollypolly.com\/30473\/?p=3213"},"modified":"2015-03-13T02:08:34","modified_gmt":"2015-03-13T06:08:34","slug":"3213","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gollypolly.com\/30473\/?p=3213","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gollypolly.com\/30473\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/sadfsdfasffsad.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3215\" src=\"https:\/\/gollypolly.com\/30473\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/sadfsdfasffsad.jpg\" alt=\"sadfsdfasffsad\" width=\"640\" height=\"847\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gollypolly.com\/30473\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/sadfsdfasffsad.jpg 640w, https:\/\/gollypolly.com\/30473\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/sadfsdfasffsad-227x300.jpg 227w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve all lost something.\u00a0 Often times, it is something as simple as your car keys.\u00a0 You may want to check the refrigerator, right next to the\u00a0 Cheese Whiz Jar.\u00a0 OR&#8230;.. following that same line of thought&#8230;\u00a0 maybe you&#8217;ve lost your entire car.\u00a0 Chances are you are just a little turned around in the parking garage.\u00a0 Third floor, not second.<\/p>\n<p>I am not too crazy about losing things.\u00a0 I sort of live by that old phrase&#8230; &#8220;A place for everything, and everything in its place.&#8221;\u00a0 That&#8217;s how I grew up.\u00a0 And it stuck.<\/p>\n<p>But the truth of it is&#8230;. most of the time&#8230; things aren&#8217;t truly lost.\u00a0 They are merely misplaced.<\/p>\n<p>So, when you are freaking out, up and down, because you can&#8217;t find the remote control for the TV&#8230; and Dancing with the Stars starts in five minutes&#8230;.\u00a0 it might be best to just take a deep breath, relax, and try to remember what was going on the last time you were watching TV&#8230;. you know&#8230;&#8230; all those reruns of Hee Haw.<\/p>\n<p>Alright&#8230; segue here.\u00a0 I am not going to fault you for watching Hee Haw, or for eating Cheese Whiz right out of the jar.\u00a0 I have my guilty pleasures too.\u00a0 Okay, back to it.<\/p>\n<p>Losing things.\u00a0 And finding them.\u00a0 They are simply misplaced.<\/p>\n<p>But sometimes, we experience a loss which is much more significant than the cap for the toothpaste tube.<\/p>\n<p>We lose a person.<\/p>\n<p>Yes.\u00a0 We lose someone very near, and very dear to us.\u00a0 What then?<\/p>\n<p>Losing someone or something you love is undoubtedly&#8230;.. very painful.\u00a0 We might experience all kinds of difficult emotions.\u00a0\u00a0 There are times when it may feel like the pain and sadness will never ease off.<\/p>\n<p>This happens to all of us.\u00a0 We might be depressed, angry, afraid, or even in a state of denial, or guilt.\u00a0 These are normal reactions to a significant loss. And of course, we are all different.\u00a0 There are no right or wrong ways to grieve.\u00a0 But&#8230;. There are a ton of &#8220;coping&#8221; mechanisms out there for us to explore.\u00a0 I won&#8217;t go in to all of that here.\u00a0 That is better left for the one&#8217;s with training and degrees on the walls.<\/p>\n<p>But I will ask this.\u00a0 Like our keys, or the remote control&#8230;\u00a0 are the people we lose&#8230; really lost?\u00a0 OR are they just misplaced from our ability as humans to perceive them?<\/p>\n<p>I know, they are gone from our lives, as we know it.\u00a0 They have physically passed.\u00a0 We can&#8217;t hold them, or kiss them, or scruff up the hair on the tops of their heads.\u00a0 In that way they are gone.<\/p>\n<p>But possibly, they are with us, in different ways.\u00a0 Their energy, their spirit, their legacy, and all the gifts they gave to us during life.\u00a0 Maybe not physical gifts, but emotional and spiritual gifts.\u00a0 In all sorts of directions.\u00a0 Love. Kindness. Compassion.\u00a0 Companionship.\u00a0 Faith in Goodness.\u00a0 Hope.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe to find them, we just have to take a deep breath, relax, and start remembering, and looking in the places where it never occurred to us to look.<\/p>\n<p>No, you probably won&#8217;t find\u00a0 your sister Mimi in the fridge, next to the Cheese Whiz Jar&#8230; unless of course&#8230; she is still alive&#8230; like my sister Mimi&#8230;. and she has this total &#8220;thing&#8221; for Cheese Whiz by the tablespoon.\u00a0 In that case&#8230; keep an eye on the Ritz Crackers too.\u00a0 And the bacon.<\/p>\n<p>But.\u00a0 Loss can deal us a tremendous blow.\u00a0 It can knock us off our feet, our game, and even off of our lives.\u00a0\u00a0 My guess is&#8230; if we feel so much pain and sadness about our loss, that person must have been pretty incredible.<\/p>\n<p>And I bet that incredible person would want us to live in the light, and not the dark.\u00a0 That person probably taught us a lot about the true essence of life&#8230;. and we could honor them&#8230; by living it well.\u00a0 That is what I am guessing.<\/p>\n<p>Live it well.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"copy-paste-block\"><em><strong><span class=\"bqQuoteLink\">The fragrance of flowers spreads only in the direction of the wind.
