…. and the milkweeds were tired.\u00a0 It had been a long, cold winter.\u00a0 It snowed, iced, froze and blew…. in the grandest of proportions.\u00a0 A bitter season had long been upon them.<\/p>\n

Their little milkweed hairs were matted to their little milkweed faces.\u00a0 Their twigs were brittle.\u00a0\u00a0 As the pre-Spring sun began to warm their husks… they started to awaken…<\/p>\n

“Holy Crap Nermal.\u00a0 You still hanging in there buddy?”<\/em><\/p>\n

“Oh yeah, Floyd.\u00a0 I’m still here… although I feel more like a Stink Weed right now.\u00a0 Crappy dang winter.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“You can say that again.\u00a0 That was crappy for sure.\u00a0 Are you doing okay Nermal?”<\/em><\/p>\n

“I am not sure I have the energy to go on Floyd.\u00a0 I’m thinking about just dropping off the stem.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“No, No Nermal\u00a0 YOU mustn’t.\u00a0 Nermal, there is so much to look forward to.\u00a0 We are going to get our Fluffy Whites back… and then the Monarchs will come.\u00a0 What other plant is visited every year by The Royals?\u00a0 Just think about it Nermal.\u00a0\u00a0 Remember how much we love the Monarchs’ visits….?”<\/em><\/p>\n

“It is too far away.\u00a0 I’m tired Floyd.\u00a0 I’m letting go of the stem now…”<\/span><\/p>\n

“Wait Nerm.\u00a0 Look up!\u00a0\u00a0 Look up!”<\/p>\n

… and both of the milkweeds looked to the sky above them.\u00a0 They saw The Magnificent Ball Tree.\u00a0 It was still here too… with more orblets than ever. Thousands and thousands of sphericals.\u00a0 Somehow… it made them happy inside.\u00a0 It made them feel better.<\/p>\n

So they rejoiced and… together… they waited for Spring.\u00a0\u00a0 And Nermal clung tightly to the stem….with his friend….\u00a0\u00a0 … ….his good friend Floyd.<\/p>\n

I was just thinking earlier, that each one of us makes a difference to someone.\u00a0 No matter how small or how large…\u00a0 there are times when we help others…. and we don’t even know it.\u00a0 People help me all the time, and I am constantly amazed at the kindness of those people.<\/p>\n

At some point during each day….\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 maybe all we need to do is look up….\u00a0 or maybe left, or right…\u00a0 but somewhere around us… we might catch a glimpse of the magnificent.\u00a0 And there we will be… sharing the magnificent with someone who needs it.\u00a0 And it will make us happy inside.<\/p>\n
