Patterns are everywhere.<\/p>\n

In your Mom’s sewing drawer.\u00a0 In a woodworker’s toolkit.\u00a0 On materials for dresses, and couches, and rugs.\u00a0 In the way your house is made.\u00a0 Birds have patterns in their flights.\u00a0 Beavers in the way they build dams.<\/p>\n

There are so many great patterns in nature.\u00a0 Nature has a way of repeating itself.\u00a0 I like to look at those repetitions in the natural world.\u00a0 They are everywhere.\u00a0 In trees, and snowflakes, and corn.\u00a0 You name it… just about.<\/p>\n

History.\u00a0 Yep, there are patterns in history too.\u00a0 It definitely has a way of repeating itself.<\/p>\n

But there are patterns in us too.\u00a0 Not the physical kind.\u00a0 Sure, there are plenty of those.\u00a0 Our fingerprints, in the flecks of our eyes, on our tongues, and on and on.<\/p>\n

We have behavioral, emotional, psychological, and intellectual patterns as well.\u00a0 Sometimes these can be good, and other times… not so much.<\/p>\n

The difference is….. figuring out which are good… and which are bad.<\/p>\n

And THAT can be a heck of a lot harder than what it seems.\u00a0 Sometimes we can’t see our own patterns, but others can spot them like a bad, bad floral print on a Lay-Z-Boy Rocker.<\/p>\n

I’m not sure what the best way is to break bad patterns.\u00a0 But I know it means being truthful with ourselves.\u00a0 You know…. figuring out our authentic selves.<\/p>\n

And those times we identify a good pattern… we should fly with it.\u00a0 Like a bird.\u00a0 Or grow with it.\u00a0 Like a tree.\u00a0\u00a0 Or build on it.\u00a0 Like a beaver.<\/p>\n

Maybe with the bad ones… we should apply similar analogies.\u00a0 If we know it is a harmful pattern…..\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Like a bird.\u00a0 We should peck away at it.\u00a0 Like a tree.\u00a0\u00a0 Leaf it alone.\u00a0 Or like a beaver.<\/p>\n
