It was a warm summer day in 2002 when we found Maxine Virginia Swift.\u00a0\u00a0 But the truth of the matter is ….\u00a0 she found us.\u00a0 She found our hearts.\u00a0 She touched our lives.<\/p>\n

It happened in early July, you see.\u00a0 Someone called and said a little dog had been discovered on the side of the road, on Rt. 122.\u00a0 “It” had probably been hit by a car.\u00a0 She couldn’t walk.\u00a0 Just a sad, dragging limp.<\/p>\n

I went and “took possession” of the this injured animal.\u00a0 When people initially saw her, many said….”That is ONE UGLY little dog.”\u00a0 Or…. “That is the ugliest dog I have ever seen.”<\/p>\n

But the thing of it was…. Little Max just needed some time.\u00a0 She needed to heal, and get back on her little paws.\u00a0\u00a0 She needed to find her bark again.<\/p>\n

And after time.\u00a0 She did.\u00a0\u00a0 Like a dog sniffing out a bone… she found her Mojo.<\/p>\n

These days people think she is cute.\u00a0 In fact, folks have stopped us on the street to ask what “breed” she is… or to snap a picture.<\/p>\n

I guess if you think about it….. all of us go through some sort of a “deal” that knocks us back a notch.\u00a0 It puts us out of whack.\u00a0 Takes us out of the game for a bit.<\/p>\n

But given some time to heal, and some love along the way…. we eventually have the ability to find our way back.<\/p>\n

Assuredly.<\/p>\n

A way to find our bark again.<\/p>\n

A way back to touching other’s people’s lives.\u00a0 And their hearts.<\/p>\n

A way back home.<\/p>\n
