{"id":2603,"date":"2014-12-28T23:25:19","date_gmt":"2014-12-29T04:25:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gollypolly.com\/30473\/?p=2603"},"modified":"2014-12-28T23:57:37","modified_gmt":"2014-12-29T04:57:37","slug":"the-game","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gollypolly.com\/30473\/?p=2603","title":{"rendered":"The Game"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gollypolly.com\/30473\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/thegame.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2604\" src=\"https:\/\/gollypolly.com\/30473\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/thegame.jpg\" alt=\"thegame\" width=\"800\" height=\"740\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gollypolly.com\/30473\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/thegame.jpg 800w, https:\/\/gollypolly.com\/30473\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/thegame-300x278.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Tonight, we had some friends over to watch the Bengals vs. Steelers.\u00a0 Let me do a little background here.\u00a0 Most of our friends are Bengals fans.\u00a0 I have followed the Steelers since I was a pretty little whipper-snapper.\u00a0 So at times&#8230; there can be a playful banter between us.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve been planning this party for a long time&#8230; but the game time was changed to the Sunday Night Game.\u00a0 This is problematic for a bunch of old women who typically go to bed by 9:30 or 10:00 p.m.\u00a0 A few of our group couldn&#8217;t make it because of the sickies.\u00a0 There are a lot of bugs going around right now&#8230;. and we aren&#8217;t talking spiders or crickets.<\/p>\n<p>So it was a small group, but a good group.\u00a0 The game still rages on at this point&#8230;.. but the party is over.\u00a0 Everyone left at halftime, after we had eaten the bulk of the pizza and cookies.\u00a0 Nonetheless, we shared good company and conversation.<\/p>\n<p>But here is the real deal.\u00a0 The point of all of this.<\/p>\n<p>I am fortunate in the area of friends.\u00a0 I have a very special few&#8230; who I love dearly&#8230; and I truly would do anything for them.\u00a0 They come in all different shapes and sizes, and from all different walks of life.\u00a0 I was reminded, once again, of my good fortune tonight.<\/p>\n<p>A couple of them&#8230; I wish I could scoop right up&#8230; and move them right next door.\u00a0 Cool women&#8230; who make me laugh, and think, and engage. This can be a difficult task for introverted me&#8230;.. but they make me feel easy.\u00a0 They are very kind to me,\u00a0 and it truly warms my heart.<\/p>\n<p>While I&#8217;ll probably never be a Bengals fan&#8230; even though my good pals are&#8230; I will always be a fan of these friends.\u00a0 They are yet another one of life&#8217;s joys&#8230;. and I am grateful.<\/p>\n<p>And finally&#8230;.I will be even more grateful if the Steelers can win.<\/p>\n<div class=\"copy-paste-block\"><em><strong><span class=\"bqQuoteLink\">Goodness is about character &#8211; integrity, honesty, kindness, generosity, moral courage, and the like.
